Sadly, you never regain consciousness. You never learn the fate of everyone in the hospital after Joel finds out what happened... or of Joel himself.

But, hey -- you may have just contributed to a cure (or a vaccine) for the Cordyceps virus! Right?

...Er... probably not. Not if Joel went batshit when he found you dead, and killed everyone even remotely involved. If he did, your death was completely in vain.
