OH YEAH BABY SNAKES ON A PLAAAAAAAAAAAAANE - BACK TO MILWAUKEE! BWAHAHAHA!

YES I AM ABUSING CAPSLOCK EVEN THOUGH LIKE TWO PEOPLE WILL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT

SO EXCITED!

I wasn't around last night to congratulate him but I did see him do it: Edwin Jackson became the 2nd Diamondback to throw a no-hitter! (the first was Randy Johnson's perfect game in Atlanta on 5/18/04. We haven't done it at home yet)

It wasn't pretty (8 walks! 7 in the first 3 innings!) but he did it! 149 pitches!

And guess who helped him out by getting in his face early on... Dontrelle Willis! (see? It WAS a good trade, [livejournal.com profile] six_demon_bag!)

I think in celebration of this feat I should perhaps not clean my house today and be a lazy blob :D

First of all, how awesome is Barack Obama??? <33333

Second of all, the National League really needs to win the All Star Game. I have never seen them win -- I've been a baseball fan now for 10 years. That's just sad!

Third of all, 24.52 hours until I see HBP. !!!!

That is all.

Hey! If you live in America, you're entitled to a free taco, see? Isn't that cool? You don't even have to buy anything else or bring a coupon or anything. I'll have to get a volcano taco too, though, because those are my new favorite thing at Taco Bell.

I have no interest in the World Series this year :(

It's cold. I think I'm gonna have to put my blanket on my bed. Brrrrr.

Oh! And! I got into that RP, so you guys should all go apply: [livejournal.com profile] plutoix. It's panfandom. Looks fun so far, though I haven't actually started yet; I'm purposely waiting for one in-game day to pass.

Gordon Lightfoot tonight! (I know at least one of you knows who he is :P)

Happy Friday, y'all!
I did something new at the ballpark today -- I watched the game from a suite! My mom got tickets to the Gila River suite since she gambles so much at their casino ♥ It was niiiiiice. It had a cozy lounge area with HD TVs all over, a bar, a yummy all-you-can-eat buffet (with gourmet mac'n'cheese! That stuff was orgasmic!)... the seats were padded, a bit wider, and offered a LOT more leg room. TVs so we could watch replays (the game wasn't televised here tonight, but they put on the Ohio feed). Private bathroom. Little lockers to keep our stuff in so we could roam about freely. Staff guys to kiss our asses and make us feel important. It was just nice and secluded and cozy. Need to find rich friends so I can sit up there all the time! ;)

The game itself was exciting (Dbacks/Reds), extra innings even... but the ending sucked. The pitcher we just barely traded to the Reds was sent up to pinch hit (yes, a pitcher who is a good hitter!) and that was the go-ahead run in the 10th inning. *sigh* I'm afraid we've completely blown our playoff chances. (Though, [livejournal.com profile] darkp_hawk, we're not even close to being eliminated mathematically yet :P)

I looked for you, [livejournal.com profile] bullpenbrat22, but we were on the 3rd base side and it was hard to read the numbers across the way... I thought maybe they'd show you on dbTV with a Jeff Salazar sign at the end there, but he wasn't up long enough! :(

~

In other news... why am I dreaming about scary Stockholm Syndrome-esque things?
Eeeeeeeee we should have gone to today's game! Stephen Drew just hit for the cycle! First one in the ballpark's history, oddly enough! (There are two others in team history, but both of those were on the road)

GO DBACKS GO!

Yes, I know most of you don't care, just carry on :)
I'm feeling more like my old self these days, which may or may not be a good thing. Time will tell.

I "Grandma-sat" for my dad Friday night/Saturday morning, then spent the day at a casino with my mom. They have these awesome Star Wars slot machines there. Darth Vader really liked my mom! It was fun, and we had dinner there for free thanks to her racking up points on her card.

I went to a party last night. I wouldn't have gone if the guy hadn't been one of my favorite people on the planet -- he turns 40 today. I knew there'd be a ton of people there, most of whom I didn't know, used to know from work but don't anymore, or barely remembered from previous gatherings. It was Hawaiian theme, so I got to wear my dress that I actually bought in Hawaii eleven years ago, w00t. They had drink machines full of yummy frozen goodness. I don't know if it was the huge meal I'd eaten a few hours earlier or the fact that it was humid and I kept sweating, but I didn't even get much of a buzz off the four or five drinks I had.

I was the ONLY one to have a penis straw, which naturally generated some questions. And this time I remembered to take it home! Bwah! (I know of only one picture of me drinking out of it in existence; should it make its way to me, I will share it with interested parties) I think I'll make a tag for this legendary thing.

A few people half-heartedly tried to get me to do karaoke, which I WOULD have done with more prodding but wasn't about to go up there on my own accord, not whilst still being sober for the most part. Much more fun to watch OTHER people make fools of themselves! (a 7-year-old girl singing "I Kissed A Girl" was pretty cute, though!)

As you may have guessed, I'm not a party person. I felt awkward and out-of-place much of the time. But the birthday boy was truly happy to see me, and it was nice seeing him have a good time. His boyfriend was doing the karaoke so I didn't get to see him much, which is a shame cuz he's a total sweetheart... still, I think I've filled my quota of hugs and kisses for the rest of the year now, between the two of them.

Might go to the game later with my bro but I doubt it. The Dodgers are in town and he wants to see Manny, but the bigger draw for him would have been seeing Maddux pitch and he's not scheduled today. I'm feeling quite unmotivated to do anything at the moment except sit here on my ass. Heh.

ETA: I hate my body. Yes, this is news worthy of an edit. >.> It's actually the summation of a very TMI girly post I nearly posted just now but talked myself out of. *siiiiigh* Waiting for drugs to kick in so I can sleeeeeeeeeeep.
I don't feel like cleaning this morning. What a shocker!

Happy 27th birthday, Hayden :) Must picspam the comm later in his honor! (ETA: All done!)

Hmmmm, let's do bullet-point babbling. Except as dashes instead of bullets cuz I don't know how to make bullets show up in here.

-Aaron said he'd call me during the game last night, but he didn't. He was working (mall show in Vegas)... and since I'm a nice person I decided NOT to call him and rub it in that my team whipped his team so bad. 9-0! And the coolest part: Conor Jackson was a double away from hitting for the cycle, and BAM! he gets another hit... it could have been a double, but no, he goes for third! So he missed the cycle, even though the team was up (7-0 at that time). Very unselfish of him.

-Going to the game tonight! I like the early start time (5:10pm) - means I won't be dead when I get home. I can't wait to see the new 6600" HD TV. Somewhere in that neighborhood of inches, anyway. Just a tad bigger than my 27"!

-I want to go SHOPPING. For cute new shoes and new spring clothes. Oh - and also I still need to go to Fresh and Easy (of the UK's Tesco!). Just read that they're doing better than they projected out here. Yay! A store closer to me should be opening up later this year.

-I have to take my car to emissions soon. Pain in the ass. But the good thing about having an aging car - it's only $103 to register my car for TWO YEARS now. It just keeps getting cheaper and cheaper.

-I made friends with another kitty last night. He came close enough to sniff my hand but I didn't try to pet him, he was kinda skittish whenever I moved. He's fat so I think someone owns him. My cat food brings all the kittehs to the yard!

-This icon reminds me - I finished The Picture of Dorian Gray. I loved it! (probably helps that I pictured Hayden as Dorian *g*) So I'll start on my next "bubble bath book"... probably not 'til next weekend. :(

-I got my R2! But I haven't had a chance to check him out yet! I need to get big-ass batteries for him first.

-Squicktastic fic in the works. That's all I'm gonna say about that. BWAHAHA!

-I asked for overtime for next week and it was approved, but now I don't think I'll need it. Do I 'fess up or just get the OT? Heh. Maybe I'll just trim it down a bit so I only have a couple hours. And maybe by posting this I'll tempt the Work Gods to make it necessary after all.

-Someone should have told me about the awesomeness that is Mew's "Comforting Sounds" before. Very repeat-worthy. I have more music to check out but I just deleted 100 songs from my iPod a couple weeks ago and I don't wanna delete any more!

-Bobby Brown DID SO do a song called "Don't Be Cruel." How can no one at work remember this but me??? I got laughed at for "not knowing" that's an Elvis song. DURRRR of course it is, but BB did a totally different one!

-Yesterday I amazed those same laughers with my ability to scarf down super-sweet cake frosting like it's water. Hee! That cake was NUMMY. And there's really no such thing as "too sweet," people. I do actually prefer for there to be cake attached to the frosting, but yes I can eat the frosting by itself!

This is getting long. I should stop procrastinating cuz if I keep doing it I'll need to use a cut and then no one will read it. Ha! I probably should use one anyway... NAHHH you guys can just scroll.

Apparently, money. >.>

I had this bizarre dream last night where I was on American Idol, in the top 10, and I was BFFs with Ramiele. I hated it every time it was my turn, I didn't want people looking at me - I would perform in front of this TV panel type thing and that would get relayed to the audience instead of actually performing live. Somehow I kept not getting kicked off, even though I sang really bad. I remember thinking "Oh crap, I'm in the top 10 so I have to do the tour - I hope I can get the time off work!" -WTF?

Baseball starts tomorrow! I'm feeling that familiar spring excitement for the new season ^_^ My boy (Steve Finley) still doesn't have a team, but I know he doesn't want to retire. *sigh* He's been gone from my team for almost 4 years now... I'm finally going to make the leap this year and quit wearing his shirts to the games. Well, mostly - I like the spaghetti strap tank with the shelf bra for hot summer games. And I have so much old stuff it will take me a while to build up a collection of the new (I have 2 shirts and a hat in the red color). But at some point it just comes time to move on.

My Star Wars marathon was AWESOME. Every fan needs to do this periodically, it's good for the soul! I'd like to say it gave me new fic ideas, but mostly it made me want to READ more. Both fic and EU stuff. I could babble more about that but this is the "wrong journal" for that. Anyway, this time my Anicat watched TPM, but left for AotC and the Clone Wars cartoons and didn't come back until Mustafar in RotS. Odd time to come back, Anicat! He sat with me until I started bawling. Heh. He didn't come back until the end of RotJ. Where of course I was bawling again!

Kumal's been coming inside a lot. I've been calling him Kumy as a nickname (rhymes with LUMY or "roomie", ya pervs :P) I don't see his brother nearly as often. Only like every other day, as opposed to Kumy coming 'round twice a day.

I should go do some yardwork, but my dad's going to do some maintenance-y stuff on my lawnmower this afternoon so I feel like I should wait until then to do it, so we can both work in the yard at the same time. I would feel like a complete sloth if I sat in here on my laptop while he was out there.

Bah, I have that feeling of there being so much I want to do and so little time to do it! It's a good thing, though. No wonder I'm never bored ^_^
It's all over, my team's going home. And it's all my fault -- we didn't win a single game since I uploaded this icon!

You get half your wish, at least, [livejournal.com profile] archerstar.

*sigh* I fucking hate the Rockies.

I was waiting for [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive to go up last night, but now that it's up I don't want to do this one. It's too thinky. I must be a shallow person.

HOORAY it's finally Friday! I was a day off thanks to wearing my Thursday underwear on Wednesday. This was due to my changing into my Wednesday underwear on Tuesday night after my shower (which is normally a morning thing for me so I guess I screwed myself up) and then forgetting I had already changed my underwear the next morning.

Ah, well, all is right with the universe now.

Except... um... why do a few stupid fans have to make asses of themselves on national TV? It makes the rest of us look bad. Thanks, losers. (Ten people were arrested, twenty were thrown out of the game. Ahahahaha)
Thanks to my oh-so-demanding brother, now I think I'll be working Sunday instead of Monday since he wants to go to the ballgame. (day game, since it's a holiday) Or possibly a few hours Sunday, a few hours Monday. We'll see how motivated I am. I do want to go to the game, though. It will be the last game for me this year... until we make the playoffs, of course! *waits for Aaron to respond to that snarkily*

Time to post the answers to Round 2 of the song meme! [livejournal.com profile] elledwen won this time. Woo! Expect your prize in... 2 weeks! (yay!)

8. "Easy Life" by Finger Eleven
11. "Present Tense" by Pearl Jam
12. "Get Together" by Madonna
14. "A Song for Sleeping" by Stone Temple Pilots
16. "Harden My Heart" by Quarterflash (I'm surprised no one knew this one! It's ancient!)
17. "Heat Dies Down" by Kaiser Chiefs
19. "Antichrist Television Blues" by Arcade Fire
20. "Cemetery Drive" by My Chemical Romance
21. "Spiders" by Editors

Wow, so many not guessed this time.
Okay, I promise I won't play this game for at least another month now ^_^

Bleh, the litterboxes await me.
(mood icon refers to my workday thus far, not any of you all)

*sigh* The NL came SO CLOSE to winning the All-Star game last night. Since I've been a baseball fan they haven't won a game. So sad.

I feel the need to mention ([livejournal.com profile] gizzi1213 reminded me) that my Star Wars collection would be a lot bigger if I included my books. Those are still kinda scattered around, I might incorporate them into the shrine at some point. I COULD keep the video games there too, I suppose.

Long-ass COLOR! meme )

I'm hoping to go see OotP tomorrow. I just found out the boys will be in town the weekend after next, when Book 7 comes out. I shall not let this hinder my reading! They can tease me all they want. Aaron will be here this weekend as well. He cares more about going to the ball games than to OotP though - I'm not waiting for him cuz that means the earliest we'd go would be Sunday night. Too far away!
I went to the baseball game tonight (Dbacks/Red Sox) and whoa was it good. Bad end result, but the game itself was really fun. Sold out crowd (49,800-something). That's rare down here! But the enemy team is really popular. I think there were more Boston fans than Arizona fans. Almost 4 hours long, though!

Many, MANY chants of "Yankees suck!" broke out around the place. The Red Sox fans were doing it but unless you're a Yankee fan (duh), you kinda have to hate the Yankees on principle. It was fun trying to out-chant the Red Sox fans. And the Sox have this guy named "Youkilis" - I never heard of him before and I wondered why everyone was booing. Only, they weren't booing, they were "youuuuu"-ing! I actually did it too even though he's the enemy. "Youing" and booing is fun.

Any marketing people on my f-list? Wouldn't it seem to you that... if you're going to give away something cool - as in, the most popular give-away item over the past few years - wouldn't it make more sense to do it when we're playing a team that's NOT popular? This game would have sold out anyway, they should save the lure for the crappy teams. We looked at the next few bobblehead nights on the schedule and those are also against popular teams. WTF?

The guy behind me was annoying. He kept talking to the girl he was with, who obviously knew nothing about baseball, explaining things to her - only, he didn't know what he was talking about cuz he kept giving her bad information. I almost turned around and corrected him a few times but then decided that would be asshattish of me so I kept my mouth shut.

So my day started really emotastic and ended up with me laughing and cheering and having fun. Yay. Now I think I'll get cracking on my f-list finally... but will probably get too tired and have to stop before I get up to date.
This icon is for my brother. I'm so proud I found it. He'd better appreciate it by commenting more often so I can use it.

I saw my friend K last night. We hung out in her "pool" (above-ground, not big enough for swimming) eating popsicles and talking. I hadn't seen her since March, which is normal for us - we go longer than that most times.

Last time I saw her she was pregnant, but neither of us knew it. She's not pregnant anymore. She miscarried two weeks ago. And it was twins! :( My heart aches for her.

K is one of my oldest friends. We met at age 10 and quickly became the best of buddies, even though we ended up only going to school together for one year. We used to dream about growing up and having houses side by side so our kids could play together. Heh - part of that nearly happened, we live less than 10 minutes apart. But I'm not going to have kids now - I'll just enjoy hers by babysitting and perhaps spoiling them a bit like an auntie should.

She promised she'd let me know immediately when she gets pregnant next so I can "go through it with her", though she won't tell the family so soon (they had JUST started telling people when she miscarried... and they only told like 3 people but by the next day EVERYONE knew). I feel shmucky, like I don't spend enough time with her. I'm so wrapped up in my own little world and generally do not welcome interruptions to my routine, but I need to shake that.

I had more I wanted to say but I need to start working here so I'll save the deep thoughts for later.

-Unrelated... it amuses me when people take my polls and I have no idea who they are or how they found me. So far the winners are "Ewwwwwww chocolate Twizzlers" and "Stalkers are SEXXXAYYY" :)

ETA: Sucky baseball news (in Wendy's little world) too. Booooooooooooooooooo.
I’m in a rambly mood today. I’ll try to stick to each subject header for your skimming convenience.

Cut for rambliness )

Ohhhhh I forgot one! Food. I've been craving Long John Silver's like whoa. I've had it three times in the last week. I need to stop, it's expensive to eat fast food all the time, not to mention fattening! I want it again now too >.> We have a new employee with the last name Plankey, and whenever I see her name, I think about their fish planks and chicken planks. Gah!
First of all, this icon has nothing to do with this post. I just had to show my bro I found one. I was whining about how I wanted a "WTF" icon of that Kate facial expression and lo and behold, the Icon Gods did provide! Good, because I have no idea how to get screencaps, nor do I really want to make icons in paint - I'd rather let other people make 'em for me to gank :)

-I just deleted an entire paragraph here. That bro of mine, he sure is smart about certain things. Thanks, Stad, for being the nagging voice in my head telling me to STFU.

Last night was my baseball team's home opener. The cameras panned over the stadium and I was like WHOA, OMG RED! Sooooo many people are embracing the new colors after bitching about it all winter, imagine that! ...but then, no, it's because they gave away free T-shirts to every single fan in attendance. Ha! They should do that every game. I would wear a free red one, but I ain't buying one. Sure, maybe eventually, but I'm telling you, NOTHING this year.

Three different people on my f-list wrote in their LJs about wanting to spend more time away from LJ and out in the real world. Is spring in the air or what?

I can't do my ironing because there's a cozy cat sleeping on the pile. *sage nod* If she moves at all in the next hour I'll do it while watching AI. Vote for my girl Jordin, everyone!
If you don't give a rat's patootie about baseball, feel free to skip the cut. I'm babbling mainly because I can't NOT write about this.

~There's no crying in baseball~ )

I will hopefully find out what's wrong with Bailey later today. I'm eager to start him on some kind of drugs to stop his projectile vomiting.

I'm in a writing mood, but it's my busy week at home. I hate how my muse doesn't like to cooperate with my schedule.

I'm still a bit sniffly and a bit cough-y but I'm 1000 times better now than I was last week. I have my energy back!

Shrimp tacos from the place down the street are really good.

I think that's all. I have work to do. Though not all that much considering I was out Friday.
Kitty update: I'm taking him back Friday for an endoscopy. He has to be put under for it, which adds to the expense but I think I'm glad - poor kitty! I don't want him awake to have stuff rammed down his throat. I'm actually *gasp!* taking the day off instead of coming in late and leaving early. My boss is pretty cool about time off. I don't know when I'll actually find out the results of this because they have to send the biopsies to a lab.

$836 is the estimate. Ay yi yi. Thank God for credit cards. 'Tis almost the season to start racking up credit card debt again anyway, right? I'll just get a head start.

Me update: Still sick. *cough hack wheeze*

Kid update: J is now only at my house on Mondays and Wednesdays, usually. I pick him up after soccer practice on those days. He's no trouble at all. Sometimes he has a can of something in his backpack to make for dinner and sometimes he eats microwave stuff from my freezer. I should cook for him some time - except, I can't cook. Hmmm, that might make it difficult. Since getting sick I of course haven't done anything but lay around like a bump on a log. At work and at home.

Aaron update: He's moving down here for the rest of the year tonight - woo! We're supposed to go to 1 or 2 baseball games this weekend (his team vs. my team; his team is most likely going to the playoffs and mine's definitely not), possibly tomorrow night too (4-game series), but if I still feel all bump-on-a-log-y I ain't going to that one. He can go by himself. I'm mean.

His store opens October 1st and he has a lot to do before then. I want to help out, but not when my head feels like it might fall off. It's not a headache, it's just like... head-heaviness. Makes me feel tired and lazy.
Sometimes, I really hate baseball. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

This week's [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive is movie-related, whee!
