1) Darth Vader: I think it's cool that I was afraid of him as a kid (especially when he chopped Luke's hand off in ESB, omg) and then when I grew up I just wanted to give him a hug! The end of ROTJ gets me every time. And ahhhhhhhhh I'm still lusting after this, especially since the CD part of my alarm became unreliable to the point of not being able to wake up to the soundtrack every morning :(

2) Anakin Skywalker: My favorite character! Most of my Star Wars merch is Anakin-related. I named my cat after him (and that was before RotS came out, even!) I love that he started (and ended, sadly) as a slave, and all the set-up for the fall we know is coming, Palpatine's master manipulation of him... he's so passionate and heroic and beautifully flawed.

3) Arizona: It's cold right now! Temps in the 70s! Expected to be 82 on Sunday :) Hehe, yeah, this is the perfect time of year to live here. I actually don't mind being outside now! I'm used to the heat -- the record, as far as I know, is 122. Usually it doesn't get above 110-115 (43.33 - 46.11 for you Celsius types). I've lived here since I was 4 years old. I believed we moved out here because there were no schools in New Jersey; actually, my parents just didn't want me to have to change schools so they timed it before I started school. Hee. Hard to imagine living anywhere else.

4) Fandoms: Star Wars and Harry Potter are my main two, though lately I haven't devoted much time to either. Been busy with other stuff >.> and a lot of the people who used to really be into them with me seem to be pulling away (or long ago pulled away) as well. That said... PALPAKIN IS STILL THE BEST PAIRING EVAR. I've also dabbled in Queer As Folk, Heroes, Lost, Firefly... maybe some others I've forgotten...

5) Cats: I have three, officially! Anakin, Snickers, and Gryffin. Unofficially, there's also Sangha, Kumal, Cassie, and the one I used to call Shelby who now seems to be Shel-shel because I swear Shelby is NOT a male name, in spite of certain people's insistence that it can be. My cats are my kids! I don't really want to have so many hanging around all the time but I CAN'T not feed them... I can't do it!

6) Evil: Haha, is this the random bit? Or because of Slytherin secondary? (We all know that Slytherins are EVIL. It's canon. *snicker*) I should probably babble about how sexy fictitious evil is or something but meh. Not feeling it. My default printer/copier/scanner machine at work is evil! It pissed me off today and made me slam its compartments and stuff. Yes, it made me. I am an abuser blaming my victim! Yes, I am the evil one. People think I'm so nice but that's what I want them to think...

7) Cougar: LOL. Yeah so I play the cougar part sometimes, but I'm really not one -- I'm not aggressive enough, for one thing. And for the record, the youngest guy I've gone out with was NOT quite young enough by a mere 2 years for the cougar definition to fit, and I realized he was too young for me (after the fact, unfortunately)... and I once accidentally went on a date with a guy 30 years older than me. Don't ask me how I didn't know it was a date until the end - I'm an idiot? Okay, that one doesn't count, but I did crush on a guy 18 years older than me at one point. See? I'm equal opportunity. Age is just a number! People's life experiences count more towards making a good match.

Going up to the mountains tomorrow for the nice long holiday weekend with K and the most adorable baby in the world, who is now 6 months old and such a doll! This is most likely my last trip of the year because I can't go at the end of September and by October my dad will have closed up the place.

I have now added it to the List of Doom, which makes it official: I am going to participate in the madness that is NaNoWriMo in 2010. Oh yes! She who struggles to write 1000 word fic is going to write 50,000 words in one month. I have a whole year to outline every tiny detail of my idea!

fialleril gave me Palpatine (to ensure I would actually DO the meme, I'm sure <3). I'm going to attempt to keep my focus on the canon character and not my cracky RP version of him, even though one tends to bleed into the other at times.

1.) Do you like this character?
Yes! But only in the PT, when he's brilliantly plotting the demise of the Jedi whilst maintaining his kindly old man persona. He plays everyone so perfectly. In the OT he just sits back and cackles evilly. I'm not impressed!

2.) What name(s) do you call this character?
Palpatine, Palps, Palpy, Chancellor, Emperor. Add various first names in fic.

3.) What image / color do you associate with this character?
Fluffy bunnies and rainbows Um... I don't have one particular image. I suppose I prefer RotS!Palpatine so... pick a screencap? I'm actually quite fond of the photo in my icon here, too, from some photo shoot or another.

The color is easy - RED. The color of passion, of blood, of Sith blades!

4.) What song do you associate with this character?
Thanks to elledwen, George Michael's "Father Figure" will forever be his song. The lyrics only fit the crack version, though, so for canon... uh... I'll come back to this one.

...okay, I'm back. Did you miss me? I still got nuthin'. Metallica's "Am I Evil?" is now in my head, though! But I associate that one more with Anakin than with Palpatine. I think I'll write this question off as fail on my part.

Busy night tonight, I'm taking aaronisthebest out for a belated birthday dinner and then we're watching the VP debate (which I will tape since we're going out in the middle of it, it comes on at 6 here). I'll catch up with you guys this weekend. Hopefully I'll remember how to sleep well by then!

And for a little more recent nostalgia... this was me a year ago. Soooo excited. I feel like I'll never be that excited about anything ever again. :( How pathetic.

lela_s tagged me. (does anyone else ever tag me? No! Hehe) At first I thought, oh hey I don’t have to do this one because I’ve already done it multiple times. But it’s not the “list 6 weird habits” meme -- it has other things in there, like goals. So I must do it to appease the Meme Gods.

1. I plan to use my passport again before it expires.
2. I watched part of the new 90210 last night. I only cared about the parts with the old characters in it, and now I want to obsessively watch the old episodes the way I’ve been watching Party of Five >.>
3. I’m a prude except sometimes when drunk. In the early 90s I was more of a slutty prude, if you will. But it’s moot now since I don’t date. Anyway, in my head I’m not as prude-ish as I truly am.
4. Every time my body does something weird lately, I blame it on early menopause, which may or may not be causing it, but it’s in my head now that that’s what it is so I keep thinking it. (I’m the same age now that my mom was when it started for her. Too bad it has to take forever to finish!)
5. Fic-wise, I want to write something long. Multi-chaptered. With wonderful character development and cohesive plot and people begging me to update it because it’s so darn good! (oh wait, there is no “fantasy” section on this meme, and this isn’t really a realistic goal considering that I struggle with 1000-word stories!!! lol)
6. I want to lose the same 20 pounds I’ve been fighting with for the past… 10 years or so? I would also put this in the nonexistent “fantasy” category except that a couple years ago I DID manage to lose 10ish pounds of it. So it CAN be done. I just fail at keeping it up. *le sigh*
7. I love that line in Titanic: “A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets.” Mmmm.
8. My first car’s name was Carly, and I murdered her by being an idiot. I’ll never love another the way I loved her!
9. I’ve been watching my soap opera since 1983. When it goes off the air I’m NOT getting hooked on another one!
10. Sometimes I wonder how much of my “inner Palpatine” has seeped into my psyche. >.> (I should mention that he’s… quite a bit different from the “real” Palpatine! But it’s still scary!)
