Today I completed my first painting in... oh, 13-14 years, somewhere in there. Wanna see it? I think it looks better in person, though not TOO close up...

It's hanging over my piano -- I used a level but for some reason it looks slightly crooked. Maybe it's just me. Anyhoo ~ it took me 2 sessions, about 5-6 hours total painting time. The paint is acrylic, my favorite kind because it's very forgiving and I do mess up sometimes. I'm pleased with how it came out.

thefridayfive is about newspapers. How could I resist? I love newspapers! And they're more obsolete every day :(

1. What is your favorite section of the newspaper?
Living!

2. Sunday comics or weekday strips? Which comic is your favorite?
Sundays because that includes Foxtrot (my fave).

3. Do you read your daily horoscope? Do you believe in it?
I read it faithfully every day even though I think it's hogwash. I believe there may be SOMEthing to astrology (I identify with my Pisces sign... but, hmm, maybe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy type thing there? I know how I'm supposed to be and therefore I am? ...except for the water part. I'm not much of a fish) but not the daily stuff. My mom and I are both Pisces, does that mean we should have the same type of day every day??

4. Does the paper become bird cage lining, do you recycle, or does it get thrown in the trash?
I recycle it on weekends, after saving various sections for people. At work I leave it in the kitchen for all to enjoy and it wanders off with people. I think very little of it gets thrown away.

5. Where do you read the paper? At home, at work, or elsewhere? On the weekends I curl up on the couch with kitties and coffee and enjoy it... am about to go do that now. During the week I read it at work before I start working (I go in early partly for this reason) and drink the free coffee there.

In other news, it rained last weekend... then was sunny all week... now that it's the weekend again and I have a chance to do yardwork (eww), guess what - it's gonna rain again! Poor

wenchcat at Faire in the mud! But I'm not complaining. Any excuse to put off yardwork is a good one. I'd rather change 10 litterboxes than deal with weeds and mowing the lawn. I'm annoyed because I faithfully put down some weed'n'feed a month ago and I still have weeds. I guess just not as many as I would have had?

In other other news... I've concluded that there is something about me that appeals to guys at first but then morphs into something unlovable. IDK. It's not just "men are scum" because it's ME -- I am the common denominator here. And most people I know are married or HAVE been married. Marriage is just a completely foreign concept to me at this point. The bio clock isn't ticking quite as loudly as it was a couple months ago, but I think that's mostly because I self-medicate with Sims2.

I went to Fresh & Easy yesterday, and to get there I have to drive right by Dr. Hottie's office. It was Friday, not yet 5pm, so chances are he was in there, too. I nearly missed the turn in to the store, thinking about him being there. Why am I such a dork??

I finally took a few pics (at work!) of the splint I got last week that stretches my finger. I just got it adjusted (as it wasn't hurting as much as it used to = yay progress!), so the rubber band part is quite a bit longer than shown here, but other than that it's the same:

Mmmmmm, Bud Light Lime. Just when I thought I was falling out of love with beer! (and my beer bottles wear a musical kilt I got in Scotland! Yay!)

fialleril wanted some hot doc stories! Those will be sprinkled throughout. Okay so the affair part is only in my head. *siiiiigh* And please forgive the tense changes that I know will happen as I'm not writing this all at once, and unifying the grammar in this ramble would be terribly tedious.

omg_lightsaber. Now I really WILL be on the computer during all my spare time, heh. I've been reading threads there for a few days and it's just such fun stuff... even the slash. Actually I am fully embracing the slash now. I believe I'm capable of separating this from the actual movies (I was kinda worried it would corrupt the purity of the real films when I watch them). My character is OOC!Palpatine, his journal is

notfromajedi, and he's already interacting with OOC!Anakin *evil grin*

Okay, I am spending too much time online. Most people in the world don't know anything about Star Wars, it seems. HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO HAS SEEN REVENGE OF THE SITH THINK THAT I AM PRINCESS LEIA???? That was my biggest pet peeve of the day. If you're not into Star Wars, fine, but if you saw the movie... how can you forget which character was pregnant??? Obviously the movie did not make as much of an impression on him as it did on me.

And it's funny, the people who did know a little about Star Wars sometimes eventually got around to guessing "Amidala" or "the Queen" (to which I had to point out she was a Senator at the time she wore this outfit) - no one ever seems to remember the name "Padme."

tzietalmalfoy outdid herself on my dress, it really is extraordinarily lovely. It pains me that it will just sit in my closet for a year. Maybe someone can throw a Star Wars party and invite me? Yeah.

I have new respect for pregnant people. Especially pregnant people who wear long flowy dresses and have to pick up their train to walk outside or to the bathroom. I have successfully dehydrated myself so that I only needed to pee twice as of now, woohoo! Sitting down and getting up was an event each time today.

I got lots of attention since only a few other people even bothered to dress up - which is typical. I just love Halloween, I can't help myself, I always dress up! My "bellymaker" even dressed as a doctor, in case I went into early labor. Ha!!!! And I filled out a leave request form to request 12 weeks of maternity leave, to be signed by Mr. Bellymaker Doctor. Hehehehehehe. I wonder if HR will buy it and give me 12 weeks off with pay! (I have enough time off to cover almost all of it)

I'm still wearing my outfit for the benefit of trick-or-treaters, though I've had just a few so far - I guess Monday Halloweens are not popular for trick-or-treating? I dunno. Last year I got like 50 kids and nearly ran out of candy. Oh well, I can bring the leftovers to work and they will get eaten within the week.

And lastly - I am done with my CD-Alpha-order thingie. So I actually have to put some thought into what CD I play in my car now. *gasp* First time in just over a year! I thought I started it in November '04 but looking back I see that really it was October '04, not sure of the exact date. Anyway - should I feel free? Cuz I feel a little... lost. [Hey, that's a good header for this entry] I'm pretty lacking in decision-making skillzzzz, even with things as frivolous as what CD to play.

Revenge of the Sith tomorrow!!!!!

Woohoo! [insert beautiful singing voice here] ~~I got me a scanner~~I got me a scanner~~ I wasn't going to get one right away but I had a flyer from work that saved me $30, I got one for only $19.99.

So now I shall bombard you with pictures!!!!
