How do I change how the date appears on this thing?

I guess it's no big deal, but my friends' journals have the month/day/year format and I'm jealous that I can't figure out how to make my dates show up like that. On the screen it appears this is how it will be, but when I post it mixes up the order.

No big deal, I know, the world is not ending, but if anyone knows how I can change this I would appreciate being clued in? I searched through the FAQs and settings on the site and found nothing related to this so apparently I am the only one with this problem in the whole wide world of users. Hmmmmm.

I was just marking some entries for "memories" and noticed this one - the date fixed itself when I switched to the new format, so if you happen to be reading this (it's so old I guess you'd have to be really bored at work or something?) and are wondering what I'm talking about, at the time it wasn't appearing in this format!

I see this talking to yourself has been a long standing thing, since the first reply (timeline wise anyway) was to YOU from YOU!!!

Well it WAS from nearly 4 YEARS ago, you're allowed to forget a few entries!!!!
