Yes that is a rhetorical question. It just seems like it's taking forever to get my CDs loaded into iTunes. I'm going to work on it every evening, since loading CDs does not require that I constantly be at my computer. In fact, it goes faster if I'm not doing anything else on there.

Since I brought up speed, allow me to whine about my NEW computer and how SLOW it can be at times. The Fry's guy who sold it to me promised I wouldn't be disappointed, but I am. He talked me into spending $150 extra on this computer, said it would be worth it - well it's not. It freezes up every so often, it kicks me off the internet (I didn't have that problem with the old computer - this reminds me of the late 90s when I first started going online, it was normal to get kicked off repeatedly back then, but I've been spoiled in recent years), and I'm beginning to despise Mr. Norton and his constant need to update my anti-virus programs.

On a happier note, we discovered last night that iTunes will play music without pausing if you're not online. I think the whole freezing thing happens only when online - and come to think of it, I did get some error messages when I installed yahoo dial on there... maybe all the slowness is due to a faulty internet connection. But I don't know how to fix it, I've tried to update things from the yahoo website (like messenger, which won't work now no matter what I try) but it never works. Maybe I'll try switching to AOL or something.

I don't want to change my email address though - I use it for so many things that would be annoying to try to remember them all. Plus I'd have to get a new Avon stamper.

So for now I'll live with it.

Still pondering the meaning behind "Know Your Onion!" by the Shins....

Cool, did you get to listen to all the Shins on there, or are you just throwing that out there even though you haven't heard it yet?

I almost listened to them today, but didn't quite get around to it. I listened to the radio quite a bit, and prolonged my long, 20 track Seether CD to last for about 3 hours - maybe it was longer than that, I can't recall. There's a new Seether song out (I think it's "The Remedy"), and it's typical stuff of theirs; it's decent. It gets me in the mood to hear their last album - I'm like that a lot when I hear new songs from bands I like.

The highlight of my music listening day was hearing the fabulous new Coldplay song of course. That's been the song I've wanted to hear most lately. I only got to hear it once today, that's less than normal, but at least I heard it. The Mix played it, so again, I say that's the station you should put on at work. You like practically all the stuff they play on there anyway, with those softer pop songs on there (Aaron's term = wuss music, right?). Sometimes I actually feel like hearing some Avril Lavigne. And I get to hear some Michelle Branch. But when they play some completely lame stuff like Kelly Clarkson, that's where I draw the line.

If you do listen to the Mix, you'll be guaranteed of hearing that new Rob Thomas song too, cuz that's got to be the most played song on there. It has a cool beat, so I like it, but prob'ly wouldn't go around admitting that to too many peoples. The lyrics are quite standard, really. He don't want to be lonely no more.

And I finally heard the exact date for the Coldplay album release: June 7 - sweet! I was getting the feeling it would be an even longer wait than that for some reason. That'll be my target date for my next CD shopping binge. I'll hold out on buying stuff I want right now like My Chemical Romance (I love "Helena"). There are lots of songs I like on the Edge, so it'll be tough to decide what to get. It's funny how the rockin songs from 98 (Mudvayne, Slipknot) I still like, but I get kinda rocked out of them after I've heard them a zillion times (System of a Down's "BYOB" is a great song, but I hear it like 4 times a day - since I like hearing it, I don't switch off of it when it comes on again, thus kinda killing my zest for hearing it more in the long run), whereas the punky popsongs from the Zone and Edge have more staying power for me. There's a new rockin song I love on 98 by Blood Simple, but who knows how long I'll feel that way.

Seether? Who's Seether? My Chemical Romance? Blood Simple?

I know, I'm a hopeless ignoramus.

If you want I can buy the Coldplay CD and we can share it for awhile. If you really want to own it yourself (or not wait for me to get it from bestbuy.com) then I'll just steal it for the iPod and give it right back to ya.

And no I didn't listen to any Shins. While downloading stuff into iTunes I was also doing my Avon order (thanks for bringing it in out of the heat!), watching the soap, and watching the baseball game - er, listening to it. I'm not THAT talented at multi-tasking.

I just like that name (Know Your Onion!) - it's intriguing.
"Quite standard, really" - except NOT standard. Heh.

I heard it!!!

2 things:

1) I finally heard Speed of Sound on Mix, just like you predicted... sounds cool, would have to hear it more to fall in love with it

2) I don't know if I can wait to see Star Wars for another whole week - do you want to go see it on Monday night? That's my "water the grass" night but I could walk on the wild side and NOT do that... if I blow off my Avon meeting on Tuesday (which I was thinking about doing anyway, for the stupid reason of not wanting to weigh myself for our Biggest Loser contest due to not losing a single ounce this month) I can water then. We could use my AMC gift card and go before 6 so it's cheaper... whaddaya think?

yes I could have left a note at home but this is more fun. It's weird that you're not there when I get home now, but it's good that you're employed and all :)

Stad news: You hear it first.

If I remember correctly, you're going mobile this weekend but will be back on Sunday evening I guess. If you want to, we could check out the first two SW eps that night to get psyched for it. The Suns should be playing during the day if they have a game.

I just checked out showtimes for tomorrow (Friday) before coming here, cuz I'd like to check it out tomorrow morning if I get up early enough. But if you want to see it Monday, then I could wait. Or I may just see it both times anyway, cuz it should be GREAT.

And as for Coldplay, I'll buy it, so don't worry about that. You can borrow mine. I'll definitely buy My Chemical Romance also, and I'll see what else I'm in the mood for by June 7. Maybe Alkaline Trio, Acceptance, Straylight Run, the Used, the Bravery, etc. I know, you know exactly none of those bands too. Silly Stad. Stop listening to that wuss music now and check out the Edge - I mean it! Right now, dammit! The music gods are always watching - don't lose music cred you could be gaining in this valuable moment of time!

I've heard "you hear it first" you silly Stad.

I'm so glad we went to see it last night!!!!! I still want to watch the others, all 5 of them. I never got to re-watch them after that one holiday weekend where I watched the first 3 (second 3, whatever) twice each cuz of also playing the commentary.

I soooooo need to be working right now but am still obsessing on Star Wars. I tried to put a cool picture on my desktop but can't get it to come out clearly, so it's really tiny tiles right now. Oh well. I did hear that some people got to leave early Friday - 4:30 - so some people were already gone by 4, that's totally unfair to them, but oh well - it justifies my slackingness now. When stuff like that happens I make up for it by going on the internet. Hell, I go on the internet anyway, who am I kidding?

I definitely want to go see Star Wars again this weekend - like, Sunday? If you want to go again that would be cool :)

I'll have to do a post about it before too long...

I have a similar sentiment about AIM's constant nagging!!!!

Hee. I am still so determined not to "upgrade" my AIM. I should have made note of when I first started ignoring that notice. At least it only pops up once per session!

See, you work in an office that is mostly female. I work in a male dominated office. In fact, I've always worked in an environment where the men have outnumbered the women. THEY all drop comments like that all day long. Before you know it, it becomes something you do as well!

Hee, you'd be surprised! The girls that work just outside my office are VERY dirty. They make me snicker.
