The Simple Life

lumy12This weekend I escaped the 113-degree heat to a much nicer 90-degree heat. My parents own a mobile home in the mountains, and every summer my dad makes frequent trips up there. I join him on weekends about once a month, usually taking one day off work to make the trip a little longer. Mom doesn't like to go up - she's more of a city gal.
I consider myself a city gal too, but there's something about going up there... it's so peaceful. No phone, no computer, no TV. Actually, there is a TV, but it doesn't get reception - we use it to play Atari games. Yes, ATARI - the dinosaur of video gaming, but still so fun to play! I get lots of reading done up there. My favorite thing is to sit out on the shaded deck in a lounge chair with a cold beverage at hand, reading a book or magazine without a care in the world. I always pray for the time to go slowly but it always goes so fast. I sleep well up there, too. TOO well - with no cats to wake me up, I can sleep for 9 or 10 hours easy, and that makes the time go by all the faster!
This time I at least had Star Wars to look forward to on the trip home. More on that in my next post :)
