Slacker Alert
Aug. 1st, 2005 09:33 amI just can't seem to start working today. Granted, it's Monday, but it's now 2 hours after my start time and I still can't get in a groove. I've done pretty much nothing but get online since I've been here. Reason #57 to never quit my job: I love getting paid to spend quality time on LJ!
Yesterday was a wonderful SW day for me. The morning was a wee bit scary - I borrowed someone's truck to go down to IKEA and pick up my new dining set - I am a small-car person, not too comfortable in anything larger than my Honda Civic. But I managed to return the thing in once piece with nary a scratch. Woohoo! Yay me.
My reward for this successful mission was, of course, what I do almost every weekend regardless of whether I deserve it or not - another Sith viewing. This time my bro came with. He of the "I'm DONE seeing it now" ilk. But it had been 2 months since he'd seen it, and he loves Nat, so he agreed to see it again. Unfortunately there were many annoying younglings around, so I couldn't cry as much as I do when I see it late at night practically by myself, but it was still great of course. I also found it annoying that the theatre I saw it at hadn't bothered to change the trailers - so instead of new movies we saw previews ("reviews" as my bro said, ha!) for stuff that came out in June and July. YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE THE TRAILERS OUT AFTER THE MOVIES COME OUT, YOU LAZY PEOPLE! (I can yell, I worked at a theatre forever)
Afterwards we went to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, and I had forgotten how easy it is to pretend you're in the SW universe in there.... the columns inside give it a kind of SW appearance. Or maybe it's just me being a freak. Plus it was starting to storm outside, which always adds to the atmosphere. We talked about SW for much of the dinner.
Then at home we promptly played the Sith videogame - he's already beaten it like mega-times, but I'm still on the Padawan level - can't get past Anakin at the end cuz my Obi-Wan character kind of sucks.... he coached me though and I did better than I thought I would. Maybe tonight I will beat it.
Am I ever going to grow up?
I hope not :)

Date: 2005-08-01 12:14 pm (UTC)Hey if you mention the Shins on here my bro might even comment (He's not a LJ user so he can't see the DMA community... plus he wouldn't join anything called "do me Anakin" - maybe "do me Padme" but I haven't seen any of those :)
I see you like My Chemical Romance too - he forced me to put some of those songs on my iPod too. Just haven't gotten around to playing 'em. I know, I sooooo suck!

Date: 2005-08-01 12:21 pm (UTC)I do like MCR! They're really awesome, my friend burnt their CD for me. I'm totally obsessed with the songs 'Helena' and 'I'm Not Okay' so if those are on your ipod, listen to them! Since the CD I have is burnt, I don't know the other song names, though, so I wouldn't be able to tell you. They're very cool, though.

WAAAA WAAAAA WAAAAAAAA
I am a Problem Child
Date: 2005-08-07 05:40 am (UTC)Problem #2: It's pink! WTF?! Eh, it doesn't really matter. At least you picked some decent shades of pink. If you had picked that goddamn bright obnoxious shade of pink then I'd have to take a stand. Screw Paris Hilton and her fashion tastes.
Which reminds me, that all of a sudden, I see those lighter shades of green all over people now. Whatever - if you liked that color, ya should've worn it before it was the IN color of choice. Stupid sheep.
Anyway, Problem #3: You can't see the dates of the replies either, just the times. It'd be nice to know that I'm responding in a potentially dead thread or a still active one before I ramble away to an audience of one. Well, that's what I do anyway, so again, not a real big deal.
But ... Problem #4: This is the deal breaker here: A flashing Anakin head?! Completely annoying. If it were stationary, I could ignore it easier, but instead, it pops out at me as I'm reading. Not cool. Don't try to get too flashy on here or it will look annoying to some people. I say constant movement is bad, period.
Now to Peaches/Bailey: That's cool that you love the Shins. I only have the "Oh Inverted World" album, but I gotta get more. One of my favorite songs of theirs is "Your Algebra." That one is a trip - it sounds like how the Beach Boys would have made music if they went 12 Monkeys psycho-mental first.
I checked out your journal, although I felt weird doing that since you don't know me, but my sis said you're her Padawan or something so I should. Hopefully you don't feel violated or anything, like how I felt when my Dad rearranged everything in my bedroom while I was away on vacation - that sucked! But I didn't touch your journal, so bad analogy - oh well, I've been out of school far too long now.
Anyway, I noticed your fav song list, and I liked all of your top four. I love the MCR record, and I put up with some ribbing for doing so. One online friend laughed at me and called it something like "nth generation post-hardcore teenage angsty crap for girls who have parents too afraid to buy them Marilyn Manson records," or something. I defended them as legit good pop-punk stuff, but some people like to hate.
I got into them cuz of "Helena," and now my favorite is "Ghost of You." I heard that's supposed to be the next single and video, so it's about time for that NOW, I don't know what they're waiting for. Maybe they didn't have time to do the vid yet cuz they're touring.
I wanna check out Snow Patrol's album just for "Run" really. "Chocolate" is decent, but "Run" is addictive.
The Garden State soundtrack rules too! I saw you had the Postal Service song on your list (of course that's not GS, but y'know what I mean). Did you realize that their singer's real band is Death Cab for Cutie? I was making the connection on my own and then a DJ confirmed it for me. DCforC has a great radiosong out now that makes me want to buy their disc too. I also love that Acceptance song "Different."
Well that's enough musical ramblings from me for now. Don't be frightened by the length of the ramble - that's just me. Rock on!

Date: 2005-08-07 04:49 pm (UTC)The flashing Anakin head has nothing to do with the layout though, that's one of my user pics - I have oodles of 'em now :)
Pink is kewl!!! I just can't wear it cuz of my hair is all.
I want a more Star Wars-type layout, maybe something I can design a little more myself.... but well these things take time ya know....
