I finally filled out my hogwartsishome application (Harry Potter community). Have been meaning to do that for a couple weeks now. And it looks as if there's a 2-week backlog of apps so mine probably won't even get voted on for awhile.

Which means I'll have to wait even longer to RE-apply. I feel dumb - I should have saved the application to my computer instead of rushing through it, trying to finish it before going to see RotS. I feel that some of my answers were shorter than they should be. They encourage you to ramble, and I normally have no problem doing this, as you have seen... so why didn't I ramble on the app? And, I think I was wrong about NOT reading others' apps before I applied - I didn't want to influence my answers in any way - but now that I've read some of them I'm thinking, jeez, if I were the mods, I wouldn't let me in based on my pathetic application, not compared to these other wonderfully long-winded and thoughtful apps.

Why am I so worried about this? Is this a sign that I need to get a life? (wait, don't answer that :) I really, really want to be a part of this community - just reading all the rules and seeing how structured it is really excited me. Cuz I'm weird.

I don't know what house I should be put in (though another meme I did placed me in Ravenclaw - that was based on a multiple-choice quiz so it's not as accurate) and I don't really care, I just want to get in and not be labeled a Muggle.

EDIT: It's now 7 hours later. I can't let go of my annoyance with myself here so I found the email of the person responsible for posting apps and begged her to let me re-do mine before wasting everyone's time... hopefully she checks her email soon! Need to quit obsessing about this. Silly me.

2nd EDIT: Yay, I love her! She already deleted it for me and I am now happily re-doing, being careful to ramble a lot more ::wipes brow:: WHEW!

Ah, don't get TOO excited - it's not actually rp. I'm not THAT bold :) I should check that community out, though, cuz from what you've said about it (and the name alone, actually) it sounds like it would be amusing, at least. I just wish there was some way to gank my app back and re-do it without waiting 2 weeks for it to go through the queue ::frets::

Ah, don't worry. hogwartsishome is one of the nicer HP-communities on LJ. If they really think your application is too short they'll let you edit it. And they very rarely label anybody a Muggle. I think, only if the person is pushing to be in a certain house or bashing houses or the like. I don't think you'll have to worry. I was a part of it for quite some time and they're really very nice there. I left because there was just too much going on there. I just couldn't keep up with it. Plus I'm not really into big communities. But they have a variety of activities and an RPG and clubs and icon contests and ... well, lots of fun stuff :)

I'm obsessing too much about it - I am 99.9% sure I'm going to get a "no vote" due to the shortness of my answers. *sigh* I do feel better though, having read some more apps though, seeing that there are plenty of others who have re-done and re-submitted. I didn't bash any of the houses and I see they get more upset about that than app length, and rightfully so. But I doubt anyone will think it's long enough to get a feel for my house.

Oh well, I shouldn't stress.... ::trots off to watch SW::

Yeah, it took a really long time - esp. when I realized they WANT you to ramble on and on. I'm used to giving short answers - don't want to bore people to tears. But I saw others with apps longer than mine who were getting "no" votes due to the length. I think I spent 2 hours on the finished version. Hope it pays off :)

I'm guessing I'll be a Hufflepuff, but we'll see. Yes I think you'd make a good Slytherin... look at your name, after all!

Only if it's too SHORT. They want it LONG LONG LONG.
I would suggest skimming some other apps on platform_934 before submitting your own and you'll get an idea. If it's too short they feel they don't know you well enough to sort you properly :)

Yes! Though this application was to get into the comm itself -- there's a separate RP application. And it was all great fun, I did it for a couple years until my interest waned and keeping up with the activity requirements became more of a chore than something fun.

But yeah, applications are essential for a roleplay! The mods need to be able to reject total failboats.

...I can't believe I don't have any Harry icons, only this Lucius one remains of the HP iconage!
