"I feel so... helpless"
Feb. 3rd, 2006 12:10 pm(make that USELESS!)
They didn't want my blood. Again. This time I didn't even get to the finger-pricking part where they check your red blood cell count - my temperature was too high! It was 100.00 and they don't take over 99.5. I always seem to be right around 99.0-99.5 so I don't think it's a huge deal, but of course now I'm getting teased about having a fever and being sick and infecting everyone with my cooties.
The lady asked if my office was warm, if I had just rushed in there, if I had chewed gum (didn't know that raises your temp?) - I said no to everything. She didn't ask me if I was writing smut with Amber this morning though. Hmmmmmmm. Shall I blame
elledwen for this like we do everything else? Sounds feasible to me!
Had fish and chips for lunch next door. Yum!!! See, we Americans do call that meal by its proper name, at least!
I'll have a full house shortly - I'm thinking my friend is going to talk her way into staying another night, even though I already have 2 extra people, one of whom she doesn't know (A. came down last night, his friend is coming tonight) but I guess it's not a big deal since I'll have room once the bed gets brought back inside. I hope she doesn't guilt me into getting up at 5am to go take her ass downtown. If she asks, I won't be able to say no - I can sleep in on Sunday, right? So no big deal. It's the principle that bugs me. The fact that I told her she could only stay 'til Friday and now she suddenly has no interest in seeing this other friend who WANTS her to stay over at her house.
I'll catch up on my f-list hopefully Sat.night/Sun.morning. If you've felt ignored I apologize - expect some belated comments from moi. ETA: Oh, hell - it's Friday afternoon with an hour to go before I start my weekend. I'm gonna at least START on the ol' f-list now. We'll see how far I get!

Date: 2006-02-03 02:42 pm (UTC)Hey man, don't feel bad. I can't give blood at all. I'm anemic and on sleeping pills. But that is TOTALLY ok with me, even though I have O+ blood, I HATE needles and I pass out from the littlest prick. They can't have my blood! haha!

Date: 2006-02-04 07:27 pm (UTC)You are the universal donor! But I guess if they can't use your blood anyway you're forgiven :) I was really scared to do it until I finally DID it the first time, I wrote about it last year but I'm too lazy to link to it now. I can even watch the blood draining from my arm now and not get queasy. The human body just fascinates me.

Date: 2006-02-03 05:49 pm (UTC)Although, granted smut is fun. Yay!
It sucks that you couldn't give blood. My dad used to do it every time they had a blood drive somewhere close to him and I was always so proud that he did cause I...you know, wanted to be a doctor and go to like war zones and stuff and save lives. Anyway, I always said I'd do it like him but I've had diabetes since I was young and I didn't realize you couldn't give blood when you're diabetic. So anyway, I never got the chance to. Although I do give blood like every 6 months at my diabetic clinic thing to make sure I'm not dead, or...whatever. They have to take it out of the back of my hand because I have crap veins in my arms. It hurts like a mother there but it's better than when they try to find a vein in my arm and just succeed in sticking me with a needle two or three times, then trying with the other arm. >.< And I'm always like, before they start, "You should just take it out the back of my hand." and they're always, "No no, we do this all the time and have no problem.". So they stab me and then I'm like, "Yeah...take it out the back of my hand like I said earlier.". Bah. Okay, I'm done ranting about needles and blood and whatnot.
PS: DId you hear about what happened with the Puff house and the Gryff house? And how there's gonna be mad parties now? Anyway...just wondering.
