It's quite amazing what one can get done when one is not on the internet all day long.

I should do this more often. I was even in the MOOD to work today, which is good because the payroll deadline looms. Thanks to the rest of the world being on daylight savings time, I have to come in an hour earlier tomorrow to finish. Yup, 5:00am. If you're wondering why I can't stay late at night to finish instead, it's because our system sucks, basically. It has to do its overnight cycle before certain changes made today will show through.

This system was made in 1980, by the way. It's been upgraded since then, but the base of it is from 1980. Ya think we could use a new one? Cheap bastards. I've been hearing about getting a new system since I started here, and it hasn't happened yet (that's 6 years). Our connection sucks too - which is why I really shouldn't RP at work cuz it probably pisses people off when my posts "disappear." Okay, so that's probably not the only reason I shouldn't RP at work. Heh.

I love that bad day song. Especially with the video to it.

I haven't seen the video. I don't see videos much anymore, actually. The song is growing on me, I don't mind when it gets stuck in my head anymore.

I like the "had a bad day" song too.

OH...did you ever get your new system????

Yeah, the system's called POC.

We all know what that stands for!!!

But I still use the old one, it's the front end that uses POC, which then dumps everything into "my" system. Shirley, who is like 70 and has worked with all kinds of computer systems in her life (including some back in the 60s!), says it's the worst system she's ever worked with. And this was supposedly custom-designed for our needs. *snort*

Was just talking POC with someone in another office today. She said she heard that we'd be converting EVERYTHING to POC. I laughed and said I hope not. I believe she was misinformed, I don't think it has payroll functions... but I could be wrong!

Ooo a Halloween icon close to Halloween time! Yay!

Oh, but Christmas is okay to think about before Thanksgiving, esp. if Thanksgiving comes early. I need to put out my few Halloween decorations still.

I've bought a few Xmas presents, just things I've seen and picked up, things you could buy at any time during the year and hold as an Xmas present....but it's too early to see decorations in the stores!!!

I've only done mental shopping at this point.

It would be nice if they at least waited for Halloween to come and go first!
