"See through you, we can."
May. 10th, 2006 08:33 amThis isn't terribly long, I'm just venting because I'm far too annoyed for before 9am.
Thank God we have caller ID on our work phones. I don't answer anything forwarded by the receptionist unless she prefaces it with an intro, because most of the time my voicemail message will tell them what they need to know, if they bother to listen. If not, they can leave a message and I'll get back to them when I damn well please.
And the ones NOT calling for employment verification are probably not supposed to be calling me at all. They're employees in the field who are supposed to call their supervisors, not me. If I'm nice and I talk to one of them, suddenly I'm her Best Friend and she'll call me instead of her boss forevermore. So I just don't anymore.
I used to be able to send out emails about this type of thing, reminding office staff not to have people call us here at the admin office. It's common sense, really. There are 1600 of them, and only a few of us. If all of them started calling here, it would be mayhem. The branch offices are set up as they are for a reason. But communication has lessened in recent years - namely, due to the managers being expected to pass things down to their staff personally. Ha! A joke. And it doesn't help that our turnover rate is so high. I've gotten good response when I covertly send out my little passive aggressive emails... though one ended up in the wrong hands once, and I got "yelled" at by my then-boss, who actually found the whole thing a bit funny and only "yelled" because he had to. *snicker*
Also, I really feel like I can't complain when much of the time I spend ignoring my phone is spent posting on some RP thread. What a slacker.
Today will go by lightning-fast for me because it's my prepare-the-checks-and-then-drive-them-all-over-the-Valley day. Yay! I do NOT feel like being at this desk today. I don't care if gas prices keep going up and our mileage reimbursement rate is a paltry 34 cents per mile. I like being free.
