"We've been expecting you."
Jul. 22nd, 2006 08:11 am((Really I just wanted to use a quote from Obi-Wan being on Kamino and it being all rainy and stuff. Yeah, I'm lame.))
Okay so most people don't care to hear about the weather, but yesterday we had the closest thing we have to tornadoes here - it was awesome! I figured there was a storm brewing in the early afternoon; the sky was dark gray. My coworkers commented bitterly how it would probably just pass right over us. I had lots to do so I planned on taking the company bank deposit with me on my way home, instead of taking it and coming back. Bad idea!
Just after 4:00 the Big Boss called everyone into the center room in the office. Made us sit in there to wait out the storm. I thought, jeez this must be bad. He'd seen a funnel cloud over our office. O.o So naturally everyone was like "Ohhhhhh I wanna see!" Myself included. But he wanted us away from the windows. I was stressing about having to go to the bank and the post office (both for work) before 5. Yeah, I'm such a company gal, I know. *snicker* I was like, bouncing in my seat. After what seemed like forever he let us leave that room and we all rushed into the foyer to watch the storm. Still he wouldn't allow any of us to leave. I whined to my boss and asked what would happen if I took the deposit on Monday. It was a small one ($32k - yeah, I'd like to be putting that in MY bank account); I know it screws up something in finance if the deposit date doesn't match the posting date in the system, but you know, maybe it's not THAT big a deal... she said yeah, sorry but you have to go... "If you don't feel comfortable taking it I'll do it." -Are you kidding me? I was itching to get out in that storm!
So Big Boss, who seemed disgruntled about this (I was rather smug about the fact that I HAD to leave, cuz my boss had said SOMEone has to take it) insisted on driving me to my car - it's like a 60-second walk, but, whatever. He was really worried about all the lightning still being overhead, though by this point the wind had died down considerably. And it FINALLY started raining. Yay! And he brought up the fact that I'm brave cuz I chased the guy who broke in that one day. Heeeeeee! He loves telling that story to all the new people. And they all think I'm nuts. It's great.
I heard on the news later that there were HUNDREDS of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes during this. GOD I LOVE STORMS!
I should put up a to-do list on my fridge but I'm feeling very unproductive. Maybe when I get back from my oil change in a little bit.

Date: 2006-07-23 12:20 am (UTC)Granted, our basement is wet, moldy, and smells rather like cat urine, so that should probably be taken into consideration.

Date: 2006-07-23 12:27 am (UTC)Randomness: My laptop seems to sort of be doing what yours is doing. >/ At least I can kind of coax it into charging, though. And I read something on the LJ GW community about people developing a program to let GW run on OSX, so I'm hoping to be back once school starts. *crosses fingers* Though I'm sad to miss the preview event for the next chapter. The new classes don't sound terribly fabulous to me.

Date: 2006-07-23 12:29 am (UTC)No, wait, that's earthquakes. Tornadoes were kneeling against an interior windowless wall with our hands over our necks.
Oh, duck and cover, how you've shaped future generations' safety drills for years to come.

Date: 2006-07-23 12:04 am (UTC)Padme is my least-played character there, sadly. I want to keep her in-character so she doesn't really get into all the cracked-out stuff everyone else is doing. She's at a pool party right now hosted by OOC!Ani but IC!Ani hasn't shown up yet.
((erm.. reposted this to correct typo!))

Date: 2006-07-23 06:25 pm (UTC)LOL that's okay. My typist just wants to get another perspective of RPing me and besides, she thinks you have captured me very well and probably better than she ever could.

((Yay for talking about oneself in the third person, lol.))

Date: 2006-07-24 09:39 pm (UTC)Thanks! I would love to take over your Padme journal, if you feel so inclined -- I mean I don't want to force you to give it up (hahaha pun) but if you want to, sure. I'm on here most every day so probably wouldn't have any trouble keeping it up to date lol.

My oh-so-wise answer is... it depends.
Heeee! Maybe we can talk about it when you're sober. You really should get on AIM, ya know.
