I watched the History Channel's Star Wars shows last night. I enjoyed them both. The legacy one kind of made me miss being in school. It's been eons. I've forgotten soooooo much. No wonder I often feel stupid. Every day more of my brain cells die off, never to be replaced. It sucks getting old. I'm not stupid in that I can't grasp concepts and learn things, but I'm stupid in that I don't remember things and thus can't draw on this wealth of knowledge to form opinions about stuff.
Yeah, that probably didn't make sense. *drinks more coffee*
You may notice my layout is a little tweaked. I'm not changing layouts, because OMG I can't do THAT! But now that I have a header that shows up I have to mess with the colors. The LJ post that I use for hexadecimal color codes doesn't have my desired colors listed, and since there are over 16 million of them I'm not sure where to go to find what I want. Meh. It can wait.
I finally messed with Bertha, the Ancient Computer, and deleted all my personal crap off there. I wanted to save some of it but ran into a Catch 22 issue with my backup drive and just ended up saying "fuck it, I'm deleting" to everything. If T's husband still wants her, he can have her, otherwise she's getting donated to a recycle group.
After cleaning up that whole computery area, I have an idea about where to set up my Star Wars shrine. It's going to be cluttery-looking no matter where I put it, so I just have to accept that and do it anyway.
Now I know how to hook up the PS2 to my TV - it's amazingly simple. Still, I don't know that I'll be playing it much without my brother. I need him to coach meand laugh at me when I accidentally set a detonator instead of dispense bacta.
And I'm on (shared) door duty this week. Boooooo. Better than phone duty, though.
I foresee not getting a whole lot done at work today. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Date: 2007-05-29 03:27 pm (UTC)I would love for you to come visit me in Seattle sometime. I can get you into the Science Center for free, and also take you to the Science Fiction Museum (which has Star Wars stuff, of course) for cheap (because I get in there free.) You'd love it here. If you're feeling "old", it definitely helps you feel like a kid again. ^_^

I quit trying to win QaF season 5 on eBay after a couple more outbiddings, and just ordered it off Amazon. Found a used one for $53, that's not too bad.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-29 06:09 pm (UTC)Awww. $53 is too expensive for me (though I totally just pre-ordered a $50 video game). Granted, I usually spend $60-70 on a season of Doctor Who, but that's different. I need my Doctor Who. (So do all my friends.)

Date: 2007-05-29 06:16 pm (UTC)I kinda wish I had to pay the $4k+ already instead of just having it loom over me... then again, maybe if I wish hard enough, it will go away. I'm trying not to spend money, really. But I can't NOT get the final season!

Date: 2007-05-29 06:19 pm (UTC)I need to get on the whole getting off board thing so that I can save money. Except that I'm going to wind up spending most of the money I saved on the fee for my single. Whoops.
Sure you can. You can use that free trial of Netflix and not spend any money on it. :P

Why is everybody giving their computers names? I need to do that. I just can't come up with a name that would go with my computer. Or rather: that I wouldn't want to change a month later ;)
I know EXACTLY what you're talking about up there in the first paragraph! It's what naturally happens if you don't use the knowledge you've acquired every single day. And it sucks! I want to go back to school. But first I need a sponsor to pay my rent in the meantime. Or I need to convince our government to finally introduce evening study programs at our universities!!! Gnah!!! I'd still need a sponsor though... but a less generous one would do in that case :D
Blah, sorry, I'm incredibly rambly today...

Date: 2007-05-29 04:19 pm (UTC)Our executive assistant is off all week and they decided not to get a temp to fill in for her. So when the doorbell rings in the front lobby I, and others, are supposed to help answer it. I'm not busy this week so it's not a big deal but interruptions are annoying.
Yeah, it does suck. You make more effort to keep using your knowledge and talents than I do. And you should just move to the USA, we have night classes :)

LJ is actually the biggest use I make of my university degree nowdays *lol*
I know you have night classes in the US! *is envious* I'd still need a sponsor to even get there *lol*

Date: 2007-05-29 06:51 pm (UTC)You know what? It's May 29. I can start dieting June 1. Diets don't work when you try to start them at the end of the month anyhow. So I should cram as much bad stuff in me as I can for the rest of the month.
Though I did just eat my yogurt so I'm okay 'til after work now. Unless G makes popcorn. Mmmmm, I hope she does. But that'll be later in the afternoon.

Date: 2007-05-29 07:08 pm (UTC)That's a very good point about diets not working at the end of a month. I've actually noticed that before but wasn't sure. You're as wise as Yoda *bows* though not as green...
OOh, good girl. Yoghurts are good really. They're good for you and they're sweet. Not like veggies. They're just green like Yoda. *gah* I've heard that popcorn is not that bad - unless you make them with tons of butter... But just popcorn... :)

Date: 2007-05-29 07:28 pm (UTC)Popcorn the way I like it is bad. Oodles of grease! Mmmmm, so yummy. I had extra-buttery popcorn every day this weekend. Shame on me.
Of course, I can go off my diet when I do my SW marathon. Have to eat junk food all day to keep up my strength! (June 14 is the day)

Date: 2007-05-29 07:37 pm (UTC)I'm not into popcorn that much. Probably because they don't make the greasy good stuff over here *g* I'd have to buy them and make them myself and I don't like that, it's always such a mess. Naw, not into popcorn. I prefer chocolate, ice-cream, pizza... *sighs* I will not talk about food and make myself even more hungry, I will not talk about food and make myself even more hungry, I will not talk about food....

Date: 2007-05-29 07:43 pm (UTC)Yes, junk food is a must. You don't have extra buttery microwave popcorn over there? You poor thing! No more food talk, no more food talk...
(did Marco ever make it home?)

Date: 2007-05-29 07:49 pm (UTC)Microwave popcorn... I need to check that out. We don't have much variety of that. Yeah, I only ever eat popcorn at the cinema. I really don't like making it myself. And I'm not really a microwave person. I still distrust the thing. I only use it to defrost because it just is so much quicker with it!! *g*
(He did. He's now amused by my LJ entry and all the comments about PotC - the official one without the gushing ;))

Thanks, I will try to dream of one of them... or all three? *g* No, I can't take Ani from you. I'm quite content with just the two. ;)

Date: 2007-05-29 04:52 pm (UTC)You name your computers too! My old silver POS is called Matilda, and my current brand-new shiny one is named Frank. I like Frank a lot better because he has a ton more room for me to store all my picspam and music and stuff. Although Matilda isn't as much of a POS as she used to be since I got her battery fixed.
And it's true what you say about being in school, and how it forces you to learn (forces ... heh, excuse the pun, I've had waaaay more coffee than is healthy for me this morning) things that you might not otherwise encounter. I haven't found it to be the best learning environment for me specifically, though, I do better when I'm reading on my own and learning things that are fun to know.
*goes back to what she's supposed to be doing* *no, really*

Date: 2007-05-29 05:27 pm (UTC)Yeah, since they seem to MAKE you name them when you set them up... though I discovered that I accidentally named both my desktop and my laptop "Anakin." Whoops. I can be more imaginative than that, really.
Sometimes.Yay coffee buzzes! I have one now too! The second cup works wonders. And yes, researching things that are Star Wars-related is infinitely more fun than... well, most anything else.

Date: 2007-05-29 06:07 pm (UTC)I also name other assorted electronics and musical instruments. Which reminds me, I need to come up with a name for my Wii.
I'm better at learning on my own - probably because class is the most boring thing ever, and I learn more through reading than I do through lectures. (I have awesome reading comprehension, but I can't remember anything anybody ever tells me.)
You people and your things that you're supposed to be doing. *sideways glance at the paper that's due in three hours* There's nothing wrong with an eight-page paper being six pages, right? >.> Damnit, I can't bullshit that much.

It was cool hearing Peter Jackson and Joss Whedon give their thoughts on Star Wars. And the guy who liked Jabba, he was funny - don't remember who he was though.
Thanks for helping me slack at work by commenting here with a question! Hehehe, I'm bad.
