I've been debating whether to ask my boss about coming in on Monday (paid holiday)... and I just decided I'll come in anyway, ninja-like, ONLY to work on my notes that I really should have finished by now. Thus, I won't get paid for it. Working through lunch and coming in an hour early this week -- excluding today, cuz I was lazy -- has helped me catch up, but I'm just not going to have those darn notes done, and I need them done before next week's craziness begins. Since I'm hourly, I should have requested permission, but I'm just not claiming the time -- that solves that problem.

I figure, with all the slacking I have done and will eventually do at work again, I need to give something back.

Whee, let's do a poll!

[Poll #1048101]

Also, I'm not doing this week's [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive, because it's extra dumb.

Hee! I bet you answered before you even read the post.

So you don't know any songs in my meme? I'm always guessing your quotes, thought maybe you'd know some of mine. Except... really, what's left is kind of hard.

I actually did read it! But you're still insane. :p

Unfortunately I've been so busy at work recently I haven't had time to do any of the fun stuff, hopefully I can guess some quotes on the next one (as I recall you saying you like that meme?).

Yeah, I do like it. I'll do it again in a while. Probably at least a month though.

Yay it's the weekend!

Sanity is over-rated.

Where I work you're not allowed to do unpaid work. Not sure why. They even keep track of your login during times you're meant to be off.

I'm not allowed to either. If I was salaried, no one would care, though. I'm counting on no one else coming in, at least at this office. Or if they do, that they don't happen to mention my being here to my boss. Heh. I'd just feel like a horrible person asking "Can I get overtime because I've slacked so much in the past and was counting on this week to be slow?" I thought about working at home, too, but it would be so much harder. I need to be in the system because I don't remember all the exact numbers and wording on the menus and stuff.

Wow, I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone sneaking into the office to do work... that's like sneaking into school so you can learn on a Saturday... breaking into a house to clean the toilets!!

Heh - it's not THAT bad. I actually would enjoy doing this if it didn't fall into the "work" category :)

My work ethic used to be so much stronger than it is now. At my theatre job I would come in early and not clock in until my scheduled time and not feel bitter about it at all, and the pay was shit, even. I'm slacking in my old age!

Also, congratulations on surviving another Thursday.

Well I guess if it's a job you like... I could see doing that. I know I worked my butt off in high school theatre (stage managing - might as well have been a part time job) for nothing at all, so I guess I can see where you might be coming from. ;-)

Thanks! ...it was close this week (especially with PMS going on), but thankfully it's over!

That's the figurine I have on my piano. Hehe! [livejournal.com profile] sleuthgirl27 sent it to me.

I feel like it's my fault because I should have been working on this stuff months ago, but I slacked instead. And the management types had a meeting yesterday in which my boss rolled out some things that will make my job a bit easier.

And actually, the last time I left for a whole week (back in 2001), they DID hire another person when I came back. Ha! I was in another department then. They knew I worked hard but they "had no idea how much comes through that desk!"

I have no problem asking for overtime when it's warranted. Like, I fully expect to be allowed to work overtime when I come back, because I expect things to be a mess. Two weeks is a long time to be gone and everyone has their own jobs to do too, no one really has time to do my crap.

I know! Usually I can answer them anyway, but this one just didn't do anything for me. I submitted a lovely set of questions a few months ago and they didn't choose those. *pout!*

And here I had a thought about Monday, being a nice day game with Greg Maddux pitching in the heart of a pennant race, that it'd be a fun game to attend. Screw work - some of us have to work for a living, and some of us can slack for a living, it's okay - heh. Would you be only working a few hrs in the morning and still be able to attend a 1:40 game? What say you? (I've always wanted to throw that last one in there, that's just an Adam Carolla-ism)

Er - dang, that's tempting. It's so rare that you want to go to a game. You're probably in the other room still, huh. I'll come see you when I get up. Yeah, you won't see this before then. Hee! Oh well.

Actually, what say you is also used a lot by Bill O'Reilly, for many years, you'll be sorry to know.

Wendy, you're friggin' psycho, woman. You can talk about slacking all you want, but you work these ridiculous hours all the time, and you give a whole hell of a lot of yourself to your office hours. You haven't taken true time off to rest and relax in, what, years? I know a trip to Britannica is coming up, so that's cool. But I bet you probably put more hours in than anyone else you work with. And if you dispute it, whoever you're thinking about doesn't stress out about whether they should come in and work on non-work days. I think you've passed the point of being a good worker, its perfectly okay to take time for yourself, much deserved time.

Yeah, you don't seem to do a whole hell of a lot with your time off, you dummy, but still, its your time, and you should do with it as you wish.

You wrote that when I was in the shower! <3

The thing is, I love my boss. She works her ass off. I don't like to think of how extra stressed out she'll be when I'm gone, and if I can make things easier for her, I need to do that, y'know? I'll give you the ungodly hours thing - lots of people wouldn't be willing to come in at 4am on a regular basis.

And I relieve stress by RP. :P Totally not a waste of time!

Sorry I was all bitchy again last night - I don't like people reading over my shoulder when I'm RPing!

But this is a no spin zone

Adam has been on the radio a long time too and he had said "what say you" in his Loveline days also, so I'm still sticking with it as his phrase, and there's no way I'd wanna research it and put up with listening to old recordings of that lying liar/sexual harasser/completely unfunny conceited jackball. I'd prefer to meet him on 123 Ass Kick Street.
