Summary: Palpatine learns that Anakin and Padmé got married.
Author's Notes: Yeah yeah, needs a sequel... my muse is on extended holiday!
It was all proceeding according to plan. Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Naberrie had just been secretly married. The marriage itself wasn’t actually a requirement of the plan; Chancellor Palpatine would have been content with a mere love affair between the two. But that wasn’t enough for Anakin, always concerned with doing the right thing… for Anakin, if you love a woman, you marry her.
Palpatine suspected the decision was also territorial: Padmé belonged to him now. How delightfully unbecoming of a Jedi. The boy was well on his way to being the magnificent Sith that Palpatine had always known he would be. The thought gave him great satisfaction and pleasure.
The Chancellor swirled the fine Corellian brandy in his glass and watched the firelight cast tiny diamonds through it. Anakin and Amidala were probably asleep by now, bodies entwined after a glorious (if a bit awkward) night of lovemaking, sweet smiles of post-coital bliss gracing their shining young faces. Or perhaps they were too giddy to sleep….
The thought of occupying his enormous bed alone tonight was suddenly unbearable.
Palpatine set his glass aside and retrieved his comlink. “Bring me a companion. Human. A young male. Preferably tall and blond.”
