Started by [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale - I normally avoid questions like these but hey, I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] karinablack! I can't resist a tag!

Not that I don't love reading about when you all threw up last, and whatnot, but we seem to spend a vast amount of our journaling time answering lists of questions that were probably written by 15-year-olds. I'm personally inclined to harness that tendency to appease my curiosity. Therefore, I present:
10 Questions, the Answers to Which I Will Genuinely Find Interesting:

1. If a magical wish-granting genie offered you a shoe-box and told you that whatever you wanted most that would fit inside that box would be what you'd find upon opening the lid, what would be in your box? There is only one good answer to this question: a winning powerball ticket. Preferably the sole winner, but hey, if the pot's up to $300,000,000, I think I can handle splitting that with a few other people. Whoever said money can't buy happiness is FULL OF SHIT. Money would make me VERY VERY happy.

2. Who did you want to be when you were a kid? Who do you want to be now? I'll take this to mean "what did I want to do for a career." I remember wanting to be a waitress for a while. I had a thing for waitresses. I thought the job seemed SO COOL. And then I wanted to be a radio DJ! Because what's more fun than sitting around listening to music all day? Ha ha, turns out I don't have the personality for either of these jobs. I'm content with my desk job now. I can handle deadline stress, it's people stress that I fail at.

3. If you could ask your friends, family, partner(s), co-workers, or even other people on the street to change the way they interacted with you in one respect in order to make your life better, what would you ask them to change? My first response to this was "nothing." I feel I'm treated well by everyone in my life for the most part. Even strangers. But then thinking about it a little more, I think I'd change the people who ask me to do something with them spontaneously, or nearly-spontaneously (one day notice). I have two friends who do this on a semi-regular basis. I've tried explaining myself to both of them. The one doesn't seem to get it but laughs it off when I turn her down, so that's cool. The other gets it, but hates it. Seriously, I'm fine with making plans with people. I don't flake out once I've committed. The more notice the better. But I mentally plan my days out usually a couple days in advance, and I don't like that internal schedule being messed with. Even if I'm not doing anything important. (the main reason I hate the phone, btw)

4. If you were to make one change in your habits, behavior, or lifestyle that would be most likely to make your life better, what would you change? Um... I guess I'd skip over the PMS-y/emo times? Heh. I don't know. I pretty much do what I want when I want. I don't know that changing that would make my life better. Perhaps I should be more social. *shrug*

5. What stops you from getting what you want out of life? Lack of self-confidence and my own general stupidity.

6. What's the one thing that has happened to you that has done the most towards making you stronger, better, and more capable? The ONE thing. Hmmm. There have been many. I suppose the way things ended with Asshole was the most life-changing. I don't know that it made me a better person, though. I miss my old idealistic, naive, romantic self sometimes. But since then I've never relied on anyone else but myself for financial stability, at least.

7. What skill or talent do you most wish that you had? Retroactively, I'd say athleticism. I am just horribly unskilled in all things physical and I believe my life would have been quite different were this not so. That said, my extreme shyness as a child also contributed to my "misery" (no, I don't think I had a miserable childhood, not at all! But I was definitely lacking in the social/people skills department and got picked on at school quite often as a youngster). If I'd been better at sports and dancing and later, sex, I'm pretty sure it would have helped my confidence level.

At the moment, I wish I were a better writer. This is rather impractical, but it's a wish of mine.

8. Do you have any skills or talents that seemed useless or silly to you at first, but you now are glad that you have? What are they? I suppose my mad organizational skillz? I take them for granted, but they impress people.

9. What one thing in the world are you most in love with right now? THING. Not a person or animal? Okay then. Uh... my laptop?

10. If your life were a movie, what genre would it be in? Would you prefer to live a life that would make a different type of film? Ha ha, I have quite the dull life soooooooo... a boring documentary that no one would watch? I suppose if I had to pick, I'd prefer it to be more indie. But it's not like I'd actually want to change anything to make it so. Did I just contradict myself? I suppose I did. I wish my boring-ness was more interesting? Yeah.

Since I was sort of hoping this would reach meme-level, here's what I'd like to see: answer the questions, here in the comments thread, or in your own journal. You don't have to answer them all. To perpetuate the meme, you could either re-post my questions in your journal and ask your friends-list, or, if you don't like my questions, you could make a post including these instructions and replacing some or all of my 10 questions with questions that you're really interested in seeing people answer.
