Golly gee, I almost forgot to do thefridayfive! Today's theme is nice because it does not involve "most" or "-est" - just "one thing." Like the Finger Eleven song. Except not. Which reminds me, I need to update my iPod and do the shuffly music meme again.

What is...

1. one place you volunteer (or would like to)? Why? I'd love to volunteer at Best Friends Animal Society, a home for special needs animals. People think of animal shelters as being depressing places to visit, but this one's different from most shelters; they DO do adoptions, but the animals who live there are never put down (aside from humane reasons) regardless of whether they're adopted. So most of their animals live out the rest of their lives there, in a nice comfortable non-sheltery environment. Alas, they're in Utah, so all I can volunteer is my checkbook, which I do on a regular basis to give my life meaning.

2. one book you'd like to see made into a movie? Why? Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams - I don't THINK that's been made into a movie? It's a fantasy novel featuring KITTEHS and has a special place in my heart. I need to put it on my insanely long re-read list. I'd want it to be... you know, an awesome movie like Lord of the Rings, not some cheesy B movie that people only watch to make fun of. Which is probably what cat fantasy books get made into if they're moviefied >.>

3. one creature (living, extinct, or mythical) you'd like for a pet? Why? It would have to coexist peacefully with my cats. A Kneazle?

4. one place on Earth you'd like to visit? Why? Italy. To explore my mafia heritage. Ha!

5. one talent or skill you'd like to develop? Why? Painting (in acrylics). I won't, though, because it's so time-consuming. I'm incapable of finishing anything unless it's commissioned. It's fun, though, and I really enjoy it when I do get into it, but it's also very frustrating. Maybe when I retire?

My brother's the one who wishes the mafia connections on us cuz he watched The Sopranos. Our mom's half Italian, which makes us only a quarter Italian, and we have some German on both sides so really we're probably more German than Italian. Sicilian makes me think of PIZZA. Maybe I should have eaten more than ice cream and popcorn for dinner. Hehe!

Yeah, I'm just as Italian as you are. I'm mostly Polish, but Poland is cold and...cold. (I'm also a quarter Swedish. Still cold.)

I want ice cream and popcorn. Lol. I really want some of Willie Nelson's peach ice cream, but I don't want to spend money. *whine*

Tailchaser's Song was cute, but I found the bad guys faaar too creepy. And you know if they did it into a movie it would be a kids movie because "nobody else wants to watch a movie about cats." Which is stupid. They'd dumb it down.
