Okay - you people having all this "inclement weather" in the eastern states: please get that all out of the way by tomorrow. I don't come in at 5:30am for my health, ya know. Tomorrow is transmittal day and therefore can NOT be a snow day.

Heh. Today our parent company in Louisville went home at noon (which is currently 10am my time until next month? whenever you weirdos change your clocks?). Must be nice! Jeez, why don't WE ever get to leave early? There's probably just a few snowflakes floating around and they all go "yay let's go home!" Wusses!

Ugh I'm tired. And loopy.

That's likely the case in Louisville, it is, after all, when it comes to snow a wimpy southern state!!

However, I can assure you, where I live, it would take much more than that to close down my office. Even the forecast for tomorrow is 1 - 3 inches...and it's just mentioned in the forecast, not even with a snow watch or warning. At least, not at this point in time.

I've been at work, watching it snow until there is nearly a foot on the ground before we get out early, so I've little sympathy for your coworkers in Louisville!

Ha! They are wimpy, aren't they!

Of course, you do work for Satan, so that's why you never get to leave :P

I'm debating coming in even earlier than usual in case they do come in to try to do things early and then leave. Though it seems like that wouldn't happen 2 days in a row, right? I guess I'll check with my boss - but she's a California girl so she might be as clueless about snow as I am!

So, of course you know that as soon as I posted my reply earlier, my desktop weather bug went on red alert...literally...damned thing changes to red. Seems my forecast has changed for tomorrow:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM FRIDAY TO 1 AM EST SATURDAY.

LIGHT SNOW WILL BEGIN TOWARD THE MORNING COMMUTE FROM WEST TO EAST. THE SNOW WILL BECOME MODERATE IN INTENSITY BY MID MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL CHANGE OVER TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN FRIDAY EVENING BEFORE TAPERING OFF. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE EXPECTED FRIDAY...WITH AN ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATION OF A QUARTER INCH ON TOP OF THE SNOW FRIDAY EVENING.

Lovely. I've been home sick the last two days. I'm still not feeling 100%...I may be home sick tomorrow!!!

Dang. That's a weather alert you would never see here!

I hope that crap stays far away from Kentucky. Or maybe blows your way FROM Kentucky!

Just stay home sick, you deserve it!

The south doesn't claim wimpy Kentucky. ;))

lol - you know, I wondered if she was trying to get in a jab at you when she said that. Though apparently it IS more than just a few flakes goin' on over there.

From: [identity profile] queen-meep.livejournal.com
LOL we get jabs enough when we talk about our snow accumulation- and it's always in inches, not feet.

They can have all the few flakes they want... as long as I don't have to run air in the morning when I finish at the hub! I have to go in to the hub in the morning for the final assessment for the promotion and wouldn't you just know, I would go the first morning it starts to rain! The parking lot at the hub is three blocks away from the actual hub itself. :-\

Thanks! ♥ I'm pretty sure it'll be a walk in the park. The worst part should be the walk from the parking lot to the hub. ;)

Hey! I live across the river from Louisville... I heard it was getting pretty bad road-wise over there. It wasn't too bad here when I came home. I probably could've stayed later, but hey when people tell me to go home I go home :)

O rly? And you went home too? WUSS!!!!

I mean, really, if someone told ME to go home, I'd be like "Nooooo I want to work some more!" ^_^

*gigglesnort* But I want the 'inclement weather!' XP

But I do hope that it's not a snow day for you, just for me.

'There's probably just a few snowflakes floating around and they all go "yay let's go home!" Wusses!'

Sometimes that was the case with my grammar school - only it was the parents coming to pick the kids up, we weren't released or whatever but then again it always takes less snow for the catholic schools to close than the public ones. Not sure about other places. But hey, last week when there was a snowstorm (and like 70 accidents on the one highway or whatever), Best Buy stayed open until it's regular closing time. I know because I went lol

I wouldn't mind the inclement weather if I got to experience it firsthand and not just by being inconvenienced secondhand!

Hehe, that must have been on a Tuesday - dvd day! Seems like you go every week.

We dislike Louisville as well. It has one of our two major air hubs and frequently the "inclement weather" impacts the air arrival time and we have late air. Like... 100-200 pieces of late air out of 1,400 every day. Eww!

I want to keep the "inclement weather", personally- we need rain rather badly! But I'm in the Carolinas- we rarely ever get that weird white stuff those people up north call snow.

Heh. Our checks come from somewhere in Ohio, at least, so if they can get the payroll out on time maybe delivery won't be affected. But it's offtopic anyway cuz ADP uses - *gasp!* - FedEx.

*gasp* How dare they? *giggle* I can't for the life of me remember where FedEx's national sorting facility is, but I'm preeeeetty sure it's a winter weather place as well. How stupid! But I don't make the rules.

I adore direct deposit, either way.

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Yeah, I adore direct deposit too - and honestly, if it was just me, I wouldn't care if I got paid a day or so late, I can swing it. But it's SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS dealing with the people who CAN'T deal with it. And if we end up not getting out today they'll turn off our direct deposits this time. Bah! *crosses fingers*

ETA: Oh good, the supervisor is there. Whew! *gets back to work*

I used to live across the river from Louisville, and for the most part the weather never seemed to be that bad, even when we did get snow days. Sometimes it was literally only a couple inches and we'd get out. I remember having a teacher in middle school from Chicago, and she'd talk about how they'd still have school even when you could leave the house and get frost bite (supposedly) if you weren't covered up. Still I am glad to be in Texas now and not have to deal with the cold yuckiness.
I just got done watching Hayden Christensen on some late night show. The host actually showed some pictures he got off the internet of drawings of Hayden. It made me think of you, and how I like your work better than what they showed. He seemed a little embarrassed when he seen the first drawing of him without a shirt on, but then he turned around and asked to take the last picture which was him in nothing but a speedo.

Eeeeeeeeeeee I must find that on youtube!!!!

Awww, thanks sweetie ♥ A lot of the stuff on the internet is done with graphics programs I know nothing about, I'm an old-fashioned pencil'n'paper gal - and I always fret when it doesn't come out on the screen the way it looks on the paper.

Ha ha, the good ol' "in my day we had to hike barefoot through snow for 30 miles both ways!"

Your welcome! But you don't need to thank me, I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. I like that you do your sketches with pencil and paper. They both take skill, but something about pencil and paper appeals to me more. I don't know how to explain it exactly.
I don't know if you found it or not, but I looked for a clip just in case and here you go..

Well, I didn't call YOU a wuss. You'd fall into the above-mentioned "In my day, I had to hike barefoot 30 miles through the snow to get to school!" category. :P

You forgot about the wolves! Hiking barefeet 30 miles through the snow is easy. It's avoiding the wolves that is hard. They can freaking run for hours without stopping! XP
