I lied, I'm not waiting 'til tomorrow
Sep. 24th, 2009 12:13 pm2 posts in 1 day, zomg!
It's the 10 Random Facts meme. I've done this one a couple times but it's fun to try to think of ones I haven't mentioned before (sorry if any are indeed repeats).
1. I’ve been on anti-depressants for almost six years now and I really feel like I don’t need them anymore, that I’m just throwing money down the drain. But do I only feel that way because they’re working? The last time I asked the doctor about stopping them he said I should stick with what works. Of COURSE he wants me to stay on them, as I only see him when I run out of refills and he wants my money (and my insurance’s money). I would appreciate any unbiased opinions on this! What’s the worst that could happen? Can’t I go back later if I change my mind?
2. I have made the all-important decision to stop “rescuing Anakins” from Target. When I first implemented the Anakin rule, I thought RotS was the last major rush of Star Wars toys they would have, and that eventually things would die down. I hadn’t counted on the Clone Wars cartoon prolonging things for years. So I’m letting myself off the hook for this one. Now, if I see an Anakin (or Palpatine) that I don’t yet have, that’s different!
3. I have a sign in my front yard that says “Meow Are Ya.”
4. Two years ago at this time I was in England.
5. I thought maybe I wouldn’t dress up for Halloween this year, but yesterday little Sophia asked what I was gonna be. Awww. Now I have to! (unless she’s gonna be at her mom’s that day; I’ll have to find out)
6. I haveugly freckles/moles in a “Big Dipper” pattern on my right arm. I was once offered extra credit to show the class (in 8th grade, I think?) but being shy back then, I refused!
7. I have frequent, unrealistic dreams about public restrooms, and they’re usually either scary or gross.
8. I am a shameless cake whore. (I need an icon) I enjoy my reputation at the office. I’m not ashamed at all that I can scarf down a piece twice as big as anyone else’s in half the time. I’m going to cry when I get diabetes as an old lady.
9. I saw “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” in the movie theatre 13 times. I think. Maybe 14. I didn’t start working there until about a month after it had left, so I had to pay for all those times! (back when it was $2.50-$3.00 for a matinee, w00t)
10. If I were into girls, I would shag Angelina Jolie. I don’t understand how anyone could find her unattractive.
I tag no one! Tagging is of the Dark Side, which is clearly why
ansketil_rose tagged me ^_^ but I don't like tagging people these days cuz someone always feels sadface about not being tagged.

Date: 2009-09-24 07:35 pm (UTC)It's Pon and his birthday cake! YAY!!
And about the anti-depressants. Just tell your doctor that you want to go off them and let him/her set you up with a plan to step down off them. You don't want to quiet those things cold turkey! Then you'll really need them! And if after you're off them for at least a month (it takes between 2 weeks and 4 weeks for it to be totally out of your system and for you to re adjust to "normal") you can decide if you want to stay off them or go back on depending on how you feel! But remember it's your body/brain (whatever) and you have the final say in what happens to it! GOOD LUCK!

Date: 2009-09-24 08:02 pm (UTC)I'm tempted to just blow off going to the doctor and just gradually take less and less (I'm on my last refill). But I suppose that's just me being cheap!
If I only I could see the hand doctor instead ♥

Really? Me too. Horrible, aren't they?
10. If I were into girls, I would shag Angelina Jolie. I don’t understand how anyone could find her unattractive.
Well, actually I find Angelina Jolie unattractive because she's too attractive, there's a point where it goes too far.
How many Anakins and Palpatines do you have?
no subject
Date: 2009-09-25 12:23 am (UTC)No such thing as "too attractive" unless there's a qualifier like "too attractive to be with that shmuck" or something :)
...which, in her case, does NOT apply. Mmmm, Brad Pitt!
Um... too many to count? Only a handful of Palpatines, though :D

Date: 2009-09-25 01:49 am (UTC)For me there is a "too attractive" (or at least for females), I get put off when someone is so much better-looking than I am. Probably an insecurity thing. :D

Date: 2009-09-25 01:03 am (UTC)I was prescribed anti-depressants at 13 but my mother wouldn't let me take any drugs, as she believes in natural medicine. For better or worse, my mind was left to do its own thing. I like to think that this was a good thing. lol.
I generally dislike cake, but this may be something to do with my life-long hatred of cream. But I'll prostitute myself for lemon tart... dear departed sith lords, yeeeeessss... Mmmmmmmm... lemon tart goodness...
Ahem. The only film I saw near that often in cinemas was 'Muppet Treasure Island' - 5 times. Seeing something 13 times? That's an achievement. ^_^

Date: 2009-09-25 01:25 am (UTC)The AotC horcrux!Palpatine? Hee!
Your brain is full of awesome so I guess she made the right decision!
HOW CAN ANYONE HATE CREAM???? Mmm, lemon = yum too, though.
I saw Titanic more! 30-something times. Hee. But that was when I was able to get in free so it's not as impressive.
Plus I was older then so it's more embarrassing."Dear departed sith lords" will always be lulzy!

Date: 2009-09-25 03:18 am (UTC)I've been on a bunch of different anti depressants and bi polar drugs and sleeping pills for years!
I finally got rid of the bi polar drugs, I just stopped taking them one day and never did again! Nothing happened to me, I was really lucky. I'm still on Anti depressants and sleeping pills.
Doctors will never tell you to go off pills.

Date: 2009-09-25 09:26 am (UTC)Anyway, really, it seems there's more danger (in going off the meds) for people who are true addicts (no, Star Wars addiction does not count, as hideous as it is), and you're not an alcoholic or druggie, so I think it's definitely worth the risk of seeing how you'll feel off of them.
You know I say too that people get WAY over medicated anyway - life is supposed to be about ups and downs and plateaus, not just one big plateau, which wait, would really be just plains - nevermind, you get the idea. Sometimes sadness can be motivating, if you can handle it properly.
As far as going cold turkey or weening yourself off of them gradually, well that's for people with experience to advise you on - no comment from me on that one.
Whatever the case, you know I'm here for you if ever you're having a tough time.

and P.S. Check the Stadcasts, y'know! Don't know if you heard about the "Rodcasts" aka "Rodkasts" but they're cool.

Date: 2009-09-25 11:43 am (UTC)Otherwise, you end up with people like my boss' worthless daughter who can't do a thing for herself because she's been coddled by an enabling father who never wants to see her "upset" or "hurt" or "sad." FUCK THAT! All those things are part of life and he doesn't understand how having her pop pills and doing everything for her, even things that by LAW he should NOT be allowed to do because she's over 18, like schedule her OWN DAMNED DOCTOR appointments, is not helping her and is in fact very harmful to her. He's created a worthless human being and it's really pathetic to watch.

Date: 2009-09-25 01:34 pm (UTC)I do have ups and downs! They're just not quite as up and not quite as down, apparently, though I really don't remember anymore to be sure... CRS disease. *snicker*
Anyway, thanks ♥ I think I at least need to go to the doctor once more to see about getting off of them.
By the way, if you've seen a strange (very friendly) kitty in the house, don't be alarmed. Just another sorta-my-cat. You should like this one though because it's a GIRL.
