For those of you wondering: no, none of those meme statements were made with the good doc in mind. Though I have a good idea which one you thought might have been.

So, lately I've been kind of obsessed with Julie Powell (the "Julie" of Julie and Julia). I just had to go see if her old blog was still up and whattaya know, it is. Then I started reading it. And I can't just read an entry here and there, no, now I'm reading every entry. I wondered if she had a new blog... and lo and behold, she does! I must read that one when I'm finished! I also felt compelled to leave a creepy gushy fangirly comment on her most recent entry -- along with a couple hundred other people. I doubt she'll respond to ANYONE on that post unless maybe she weeds out a few people that she actually KNOWS, but of course JUST IN CASE I have email replies sent to me. Unlike the glorious LJ, on blogspot you have to just track the whole thing, because there's no replying to individual comments. Which means I'm getting emails every time someone comments there.

I kind of want to stab some of these people.

Only a couple negative comments so far, and fine, to each their own, right? They could just keep their mouths shut, but whatever. The ones that annoy me more are the "Hey Julie, I left you a comment a few days ago and you haven't responded..." or "I'm doing [this or that], here, come look and tell me what you think!" or "I'm still waiting for [this or that], I'll buy your book if you help me!" Oh puh-leeeeeez. People! Do you really think she's going to talk to you, let alone do you a favor? She's not this huge celebrity, no, and okay, yeah, now we all feel like we're her "friend" if we've read all these entries and read her books, but we're still just weirdos on the internet to her, and that's all we're ever gonna be.

I wonder if some of them have watched the movie and remember the part where she's like "Eeeeeee I got a comment!" LOL. First of all, that's Amy Adams, not her (something I have to keep reminding myself), and second of all, that scene depicted 2002. People didn't even know what blogs were in 2002.

Why am I telling you guys this? My f-list is smarter than that!

Just felt like pointing out that people are idiots.

And yay American Idol is starting up again!

I told her I was stalking it, therefore it's all good and technically not really stalking! :D

Aww, the cute anime fangirl didn't make it on AI :( I wanted her to be good.

Just about every non-lj blog I've seen gets a lot of those random "Hey, like your site! Come read mine!" comments. It's really annoying and personally makes me kind of want to put their blog on a block list or something.

So annoying! I guess LJ doesn't get that because... no one knows we exist? At least, I personally don't know of any celeb types who use it. They use Twitter and Facebook and MySpace.

Neil Gaiman tends to repost his blogs to LJ, but I've never seen an ad in the comments. Dunno why that happens. :\ Maybe people on lj can get reported for spam more easily?

Oh does he? Cool! If I knew anything of his besides Sandman maybe I'd follow it. Which, coincidentally, I had just started reading/re-reading (it's been so long I don't remember what I've read of all that I have!) before I started curling up with Julie at night instead. Hee!

Sandman is wonderfulll. If you like that type of story, I'd suggest trying American Gods. It's about old gods trying to make their way in modern society, basically.

You RP from Sandman, right? (I should probably quit using the Oregon Trail icon on you, since that's just a painful reminder of the dead rp? heh)

Thanks for the rec!

Yeah, I played Delirium for a while. She's fun.

lol, I quit Oregon Trail just a couple weeks after it started. It was way too huge and disorganized to keep up with then.

By now it's probably half and half between him and people being accidentally logged out!

I know he reads, because he'll reference things in person from time to time. I know why he doesn't comment much; it's the same reason he doesn't answer emails in a timely manner (or ever). It's not so much that he's extremely lazy, it's more that he CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF HIM write short replies. Everything has to be epic length. Why? I'm not sure. He's kinda like that when you talk to him though, too. There's never just a "yes" or "no." I think he's part female.

And HOLY SHIT IT JUST STARTED RAINING KINDA HARD! *scampers*

From the moment I read ur topic I knew immidiately what you were talking about. I've just recently seen Julie and Julia and I honestly love the movie. I just love any
movie with Meril Streep in it. And Amy Adams was just adorable. I've been wanting to check out the actual Julie blog after seeing that movie. But as usual I've been busy. I'm actually surprise to know that it's still up til this day. I'd love to have a look at it. And wow, people can be retards. Leaving comments like that would just scare her. And of course would think less of the people online. Shame on them. Kudos tho :D

Yay another J&J fan!

I agree, I loved both Meryl and Amy. I know some people thought Amy was too whiny but a little whining never bothered me :)

I didn't expect the blog to be up still, since she wrote a book including some of the material... but I guess it's a good marketing ploy to leave it up? I myself actually didn't think about buying the book until I'd read some of the blog, even knowing that some of it will be duplicated. She has a new book too (out just last month) but I must read in chronological order!

I didn't think Amy was too whiny at all. I personally thought that she portrait Julie well. Even if I don't know how she would normally act. But from what I could tell...Before the movie I've never heard about the book. I do know about Julia Child -I always liked watching her cooking show. She was quiet interesting for me- but I never knew about the challenge Julie placed on herself. So I'm not sure if I'm up to buying the book. Maybe...maybe not. It's fifty fifty for me really...I've got the chance to check out her blog site. And wow were there loads of entries. I would so love to read them all but they're A LOT. I wouldn't mind doing that though. And a new book? That's great. I've never known that but what's it about?

TONS of entries. My eyes glaze over a little if she gets all technical about cooking, but other than that I'm reading it word for word! (obsessed? Yes I am)

Her second book is "Cleaving" (http://blogs.villagevoice.com/forkintheroad/archives/2009/11/review_cleaving.php) -- it's gotten mixed reviews, none of which I've read in detail because I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying the book anyway!
