Marathon comes early this year - it's this Friday the 29th, yay! Here are my only-slightly-updated-this-time Star Wars Marathon rules, written as if someone else besides me has to obey them, and posted as if any of you actually care:
1) Don't watch ANY of the movies for at least one month prior to the marathon, preferably two.
2) A day off from work must be taken to do this! Preferably a Friday.
3) The first movie (The Phantom Menace) starts at (or earlier than) 7:00am, possibly can be delayed 'til 7:30 but ABSOLUTELY NO LATER THAN THAT. Just because.
4) Bathroom breaks between movies only. Yes, I realize there's a pause button, or that you might be willing to miss a few minutes to go relieve yourself, but still. Shouldn't have to do that.
5) Snacking/eating during the movies is fine, but no stopping in between movies to go get food or COOK food. Just easy, microwave stuff.
6) No phone calls/texts. Cell phones turned off, ringer turned off on house phone. No checking/returning messages between movies either. The world will survive without your presence for one day!
7) Petting cats is allowed, as they tend to get whiny if they want attention and you ignore them. But you should try to get the cat to watch the movie with you rather than play.
-7a) Oh, um... this year I seem to have more not-my-cats - I'm gonna have to let them in and out as they wish. So the rule will be TRY TO GET THEM TO WANT IN/OUT IN BETWEEN MOVIES. Yes. Otherwise the pause button may be utilized only briefly!
8) Moving around during the movies is not only allowed, but highly encouraged. DOZING OFF = BAD.
9) No talking during the emo parts, including the pre-emo or buildup-to-emo parts. Only crying is allowed.
10) No interwebz. Full attention paid to the movies.

Haha, I see last year on my "rules" post, I had made a comment about getting my gimp hand looked at, and something cryptic about labels. Funny I should mention the label thing, as I now think I was wrong: things DO change. If one label gets peeled off, another one gets slapped on in its place. It takes time in some cases but it happens.
Okay, that metaphor doesn't make so much sense when I look at it that way. BASICALLY over the past year I went from having two "best" friends (ignore the contradiction) to none, with this month sealing the deal on both accounts. I didn't lose these people as friends, mind you, and I don't think I ever will. Not totally. We're just too different now. They excel at life where I fail at it. To quote my beloved Adam Lambert: "It's me... I'm a freak."
I'm having dinner with a different friend tomorrow, one that I grew away from years ago but who still wants me around for some reason I can't fathom. And that's not me putting myself down, that's me recognizing that we have NOTHING in common and haven't in years. I don't deserve her "best friend" label there nor do I want it. Funny how that works, eh? Life and its cruel cycles!
Before I ramble too much and have to ljcut this... in conclusion, January sucks. This year it hasn't been so bad, really, especially compared to last year, but it still sucks on principle. May Star Wars make everything better ♥

My character is so cracky he's basically an OC, which is probably the only reason I've been able to play him so long without getting called out on fail >.>

Date: 2010-01-27 01:40 pm (UTC)I probably lose major friend points for not doing Facebook. FUCK FACEBOOK. The more people who whine about me not being on it, the more annoyed I get. I'd rather hang out on LJ where you can fly your freak flag freely!
And if your tag is correct, it will :)

Date: 2010-01-27 01:41 pm (UTC)Awwww. :( Sometimes you lose friends or drift apart from them, sometimes you find new ones too. (Hey, you've gained me as a friend and I'm a freak as well. :D)
Enjoy your marathon. :)

Date: 2010-01-29 02:16 am (UTC)I haven't had a Star Wars Marathon in a long long time.
Also, I hate January, it's such an akward month. But don't worry, Star Wars ALWAYS makes everything better!
P.S. I made this icon just for you! <3 It's blurry though..
