On el Cinco de Mayo...
May. 3rd, 2010 07:43 pm...I have a "coffee date" with a guy I haven't seen in approximately 16 years. No, he's not an ex. No, it's not a REAL date. It's just coffee with an old pal. On the agenda: commiserating about the sad state of our love lives. How could I resist?
"A person can only cry for so long. Then he has to find something else to do with his time." Haha, I'll love you if you know what book that's from!
It's been a rather bizarre week mentally, for various reasons. But things are looking up.
Thanks y'all for your kindness on my last angstfest. And May the Fourth be with us all (tomorrow!) <3333

Date: 2010-05-04 03:39 am (UTC)Oh, and I saw the comments. The last challenge response was an attempt to cheer you up. That didn't work. So, no need for me to write a sequel to The Lover's Wine, as that wouldn't work either! Ha ha!!!

Date: 2010-05-10 01:10 am (UTC)Anyway, I hope the coffee date-but-not-a-REAL-date went well.
So your week was bizarre in a bad way? Bummer, but glad things are (or were) looking up.
HA! "May the Fourth be with us..."! I LOVE IT! Why had I not thought of that before?! hehe I pride myself on making people cringe with bad puns and am always making plays on words like that. I'm a nerd. : )

Date: 2010-05-10 02:13 am (UTC)It went very well! We've got some stuff in common, I think we'll probably hang out in the future... which will be good for me as I don't really have a lot of friends I get face time with anymore.
Hehe, I say "May the Fourth be with you" to normal people and they think I'm being clever (dorky but clever) - I tell them I didn't make it up, it's an annual thing on the internet :D

Date: 2010-05-10 04:10 am (UTC)Good to hear! I'm glad it went well and that you potentially have someone you can hang out with from time to time. That's a very good thing; important even. By the way, I envy the hell out of you for living in Pheonix. I was born and raised here in southwest Michigan and have lived here my entire life except for one year in Toledo. I like it here well enough I think, my friends are here, which is very important to me, and so is my family, so I never really considered moving to another state...until recently when Arizona became seriously tempting. I toyed with the idea of Texas or AZ for a while, but AZ holds more appeal. I'd prefer to live in a city, but AZ, as far as I know, doesn't really get many earthquakes, hurricanes or natural disasters in general (just the occasional drought or fire?), it's close to Mexico and the Ocean, both of which I would like very much to visit, and close to TX where there are people (including the biological father I've never met) I would like to visit. The main setback: big bugs and spiders -- I HATE spiders. : ) Anyway, I'm rambling, so moving on...
Oooooh, May the Fourth be with you! I wasn't even thinking of it as the month of May at first and I'm far from a normal person, but I didn't know about it being an annual thing. I Googled it though, and sure enough. : ) Well, I was going to read a couple more of your entries, but I hit a wall and am dead tired, so I'll wait until tomorrow for that. Thanks for the friending and it's good to meet you. : )

Date: 2010-05-10 05:06 am (UTC)That's a nice concise entry you have there. It sums up who you are without the superfluous details of how you became who you are (which would probably be best told in separate longer pieces, if you so desired). I was thinking of coming up with some kind of summary type thing for myself that I could relay to people on FB messaging me with "what have you been up to" questions (after 10, 15, 20 years of no contact... rather daunting!) but then I thought "meh" - I think I'll just feel people out and see who I connect with NOW and we can back-and-forth in a more organic way. If that makes sense.
Never been to Michigan... I'm guessing you have things like rain and snow there, though! How exciting! (okay so we DO get rain, every so often. And snow up in the mountains, but not in Phoenix itself) You're right, no natural disasters to speak of. The summer monsoons bring more exciting weather sometimes (not much in recent years) but usually it's just sunny. All. The. Time. Wildfires up in the mountains, yes... as for bugs... we don't have as many FLYING bugs as you do back east, so that's a plus! And I haven't seen a scorpion since I lived in my old apartment but we have those too :D I have an exterminator who comes every other month so no bugs and spiders in MY house!
Texas... FB tells me I have friends there now! Never been there either. I hope you get to meet bio dad someday.
Rambling is good. >.>
Nighty night! Er... good morning probably when you read this. :)
