This week's [livejournal.com profile] thefridayfive is about newspapers. How could I resist? I love newspapers! And they're more obsolete every day :(

1. What is your favorite section of the newspaper?
Living!

2. Sunday comics or weekday strips? Which comic is your favorite?
Sundays because that includes Foxtrot (my fave).

3. Do you read your daily horoscope? Do you believe in it?
I read it faithfully every day even though I think it's hogwash. I believe there may be SOMEthing to astrology (I identify with my Pisces sign... but, hmm, maybe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy type thing there? I know how I'm supposed to be and therefore I am? ...except for the water part. I'm not much of a fish) but not the daily stuff. My mom and I are both Pisces, does that mean we should have the same type of day every day??

4. Does the paper become bird cage lining, do you recycle, or does it get thrown in the trash?
I recycle it on weekends, after saving various sections for people. At work I leave it in the kitchen for all to enjoy and it wanders off with people. I think very little of it gets thrown away.

5. Where do you read the paper? At home, at work, or elsewhere? On the weekends I curl up on the couch with kitties and coffee and enjoy it... am about to go do that now. During the week I read it at work before I start working (I go in early partly for this reason) and drink the free coffee there.

In other news, it rained last weekend... then was sunny all week... now that it's the weekend again and I have a chance to do yardwork (eww), guess what - it's gonna rain again! Poor [livejournal.com profile] wenchcat at Faire in the mud! But I'm not complaining. Any excuse to put off yardwork is a good one. I'd rather change 10 litterboxes than deal with weeds and mowing the lawn. I'm annoyed because I faithfully put down some weed'n'feed a month ago and I still have weeds. I guess just not as many as I would have had?

Here, have a pic from last weekend:

Photobucket

I took it while driving and got more car in the shot than I meant to... it was sprinkling at the time. But see the blue sky underneath the clouds? It just doesn't want to stay hidden out here for very long! This was one of those strange sunnyish-but-raining days. And look -- TREES! See? We have some!

In other other news... I've concluded that there is something about me that appeals to guys at first but then morphs into something unlovable. IDK. It's not just "men are scum" because it's ME -- I am the common denominator here. And most people I know are married or HAVE been married. Marriage is just a completely foreign concept to me at this point. The bio clock isn't ticking quite as loudly as it was a couple months ago, but I think that's mostly because I self-medicate with Sims2.

Yardwork is a weird word in the UK. :D I wouldn't want to do it either, though. Which is why my ideal home is an upstairs flat without any gardens. :D

Nice rainbow. Actually, I think it's a perfect specimen. :D

It hasn't rained yet, and I COULD have gone out and done some stuff by now... but bahhhh I hate it and put it off whenever I can! Maybe tomorrow :)

If weed'n' feed is the same as the stuff they sell here its not worth putting down. You're better off with a selective herbicidde concentrate. The problem with that is that you have to water it down yourself but its better value for money & works a lot better.

I've used it before with good results, but it seems like you have to lay it down at just the right time. Not too early, not too late. Bah. Or maybe it didn't rain more than once in the same month that year! My dad swears by it, but he's much better at knowing when and how to do the yard stuff. I'm an indoor kid :)

Snow?? Really? Flurries out in the boonies?

So you're not attracted to the men who you attract? Boo! I don't need a man even as a friend. I mean, I have enough friends. I'm a loner! I don't know why I forget that from time to time.

My mom has worked for a Newspaper for 17 years, and its defintiely a dying industry. I think its funny that you have 'yardwork' lol. Aren't most yards in Arizona just a bunch of Gravel?
When I really wanted to get pregnant I would play the sims2 and my sim got pregnant! I was always so sure I would have a boy (in the game and real life) but in the game it was a girl and shocked, I named her Isabella..
Lol. Look what happened ;)

Oh we have plenty of grass! And WEEDS that grow like weeds! They pop up THROUGH the gravel! And if you spray them it doesn't seem to work that well because the rocks get in the way. Argh.

I looooove Sim babies :) I think I've had more boys than girls as a whole. I know it gets stuck on one gender at times, but it never seems to get stuck on girls for me.

And thank you!
