It has something to do with baseball....

Yup, I went to the awesome game last night! And people thought we'd be out of it in 3 games? HA!

Awesome! I was seriously excited for you when I saw the score. Way to make a series out of it! Meanwhile, I the roommates and I were hoping the Tigers would finish the job Tuesday night, but the Yanks made us look bad. Now it's do or die in New York tonight. I know we can do it though...of course, whether we actually will is another thing altogether.

I looooooooove going to playoff games! I screamed and jumped around a lot :) And yay free Tshirt and pompom!

TOTALLY rooting for the Tigers. THE YANKEES NEED TO GO AWAY.

I've never been to a playoff game. Glad you had such a good time.

Thanks for cheering for us. The Yankees really do need to go away. It was looking good for a bit, up three to one, but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot and it's a one run game with another two innings or inning and a half to go. I'm hardly able to watch. : /

You need to go to one, big fan that you are!!!

Ugh, I know that feeling! Keep the faith! I'm 45 minutes behind on the XFactor, wonder if your game will still be on when I'm caught up... I would watch it for you :D

I know. I plan on going to a game or two every year, but I procrastinate and run into car trouble or whatever and keep not going. : /

Aww thanks for caring! : )

My brother texted me the results... did you see?

From: [identity profile] six-demon-bag.livejournal.com
Yes I did! Haha it was hard to watch, but watch I did. SO HAPPY! Now to face Texas starting Saturday.

You know, not to jinx you and the D-backs or anything, but the commentators pointed out an interesting fact: Game 5 of these series has been won by the visiting team 8 out of the last 9 times. :)

I overheard a Yankee fan at work tell someone "the Diamondbacks are done" on Monday morning. Just like everyone else counting them out. I kind of want to rub this in his face now! But I'll take the high road and leave him alone :) The Yankees got eliminated before the Dbacks no matter what happens in my game tomorrow! Ha! (yes I know NOT REALLY but it at least FEELS that way)

I don't think they're jinxable :) but if they are, the suits here jinxed them by putting tickets for the next series on sale this morning. *facepalm*

From: [identity profile] six-demon-bag.livejournal.com
Hahaha good for you taking the high road. That's difficult in a situation like that.

Argh! Stupid suits! Still, who cares -- the Dbacks can do this.

If he'd said anything to ME I might not be so high road-y! I don't think he realized I was within earshot.

Today's game starts at 2:07. I hope it's a blow out because my dad said he'd come over and watch it with me... he was under the impression that all office people get out of work on Fridays at 2:00, because my mom did when she worked. Pfft! So I probably will feel cheated out of some drama in today's game if it's a close one. WHATEVER, we just need to WIN!

From: [identity profile] six-demon-bag.livejournal.com
Yeah, I hate when a big important game takes place while I'm stuck at work, so I'll hope for a blowout for you guys, too....but a simple win will suffice. : )

My brother intercepted him, so I was able to watch it unspoiled... until my dad came back over when I was in the 6th inning. He said "I won't spoil anything" but I knew I'd be able to tell if he made any kind of casual remark. And yup, I read him correctly :(

I came home last night and immediately asked my roommate, Kevin (also a sports fan), who won the game and was crushed when he said The Brewers won in the tenth inning. : ( At least your Dbacks gave them a hell of a fight.

Date: 2011-10-09 08:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Yeah, I was really bummed. I cried. I had what my brother calls "a girly reaction" in that I declared my undying hatred for the Brewers and said we should have just lost in 3 games after all so it wouldn't have been so heartbreaking... blah blah. I have since calmed down, and I'm glad we went down fighting (and I got to see an awesome playoff game).

Still hate the Brewers and their stupid "beast mode," though. I want them to get swept in this round!!!!

Hopefully your Tigers can go all the way <3 I don't think I'll be watching any of it; baseball ended for me on Friday.

I know the feeling all too well. Same way I was when the Twins barely beat us in the one-game playoff to get into the playoffs a couple years back. I hope the Brewers get crushed, too. : )

I hope it's not a Brewers/Tigers World Series, because that would mean the fucking Brewers advanced another round -- but if it is we can hate them together!

My brother picked the Tigers to go in one of his fantasy thingers. I forget who the NL team was that he picked but it wasn't the Dbacks (traitor!).

From: [identity profile] six-demon-bag.livejournal.com
Yeah, the Brewers definitely deserve to get crushed before reaching the World Series.

Cool that your brother chose the Tigers, but how could he not choose the Dbacks? See, got talked into doing annual fantasy baseball and football things with my friends and that's a weakness of mine when it comes to scoring: I'll pick the Tigers and the Lions to win every time, no matter how bleak their chances actually are. And I'll go out of my way to get players from the Lions and Tigers on my fantasy team so there's no temptation to cheer on somebody who's playing against them. I HATE it when the roommates put their stupid fantasy team above our actual home team and call them out for it all the time. Haha at least when I do call them out, they admit it's pretty bad and try to stop doing it.

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
He's analytical enough about it to not just go with the home team, though he did get plenty of Dbacks on his roster this year (it's an advantage when a lot of our guys were underrated!). He won $5000 last year in one of them! So it's worth it to him to take it seriously. Even the ones that aren't for $$$ he takes seriously. The stars probably won't align for him that way again this year, but hopefully he'll do okay.

He DOES cheer for his fantasy guys going against us sometimes, though, which is annoying, but I just tease him about not being a true Dbacks fan.

A friend of mine who bet on sports used to purposely bet against his teams, so he'd be happy no matter the outcome. That kinda makes sense, but to me it takes away from pure enjoyment of the game, of rooting for your team. Same thing with my brother and his fantasy stuff. He would say it ADDS to the enjoyment. Pfft.

I'll admit it adds to the enjoyment of watching OTHER games you're home team isn't in involved in 'cause you might have or be playing against a player on one of the teams, and I do understand how people get so caught up in it, but I make it a point not to. Like my friend and roommate, Marcus, will throw a mini tantrum and slam his door when things aren't going his way, and he can't bring himself to watch a game if whether he wins or loses his current match depends on the outcome. I don't want to be that guy. And I don't play for money, 'cause I don't have the desire to be on the site all day every day to watch for updates and see who's available for trade like my friends do.

Very sensible of you -- it does seem to be addicting that way. Slamming doors? How guy-like compared to me bursting into tears, lol.

I know the feeling - I've been dealing with insomnia all week. Probably why I've been writing so much fic.

Livejournal is almost always annoying, but the posting box seems to be vastly less buggered, so that consoles me a little.

:)

I'm tempted to take a nap except I have Things To Do!

Insomnia sucks but... selfishly I'm glad you can produce fic then, at least <3

So glad we don't have sorting to do this week!

Yes! I had an "omg, I forgot to sort!" moment, before I read your comment and realised I didn't have to. So thank you for reminding me!

Go forth and Do All The Things!

*sniffs* You don't care about me at all! You just use me for Palpakin! :P

Using the tag and icon as clues, I'll guess it's a reference to your favourite baseball team.

Now what could Arizona D-backs be short for?
Diamondbacks? Sounds like a species of snake to me. (I could just use Google but I won't.)

So, The Arizona Diamondbacks are on a plane, flying out to Milwaukee (wherever that is).
Am I right?
