Sep. 14th, 2013 10:00 amYou hate always having to go first, apology-wise, but you figure it kind of comes with the territory when you're the one better at expressing yourself -- better with words in general. And leaving Joel alone for a while isn't that big a deal when he's not pissed at you, but when he is? It's torture! And you'd rather apologize than endure it.
You tell Zack you're going to go check on Joel, and since the fire isn't providing any light to speak of anymore, you give him your flashlight and tell him to go explore the house or something. Unfortunately, this means you have to look for Joel in the dark. It's a big yard, but there are only so many places he could be without leaving.
"Joel?"
He doesn't have his flashlight on, that's for sure. "Joel! Where are you?"
...and are you really going to make me stumble around in the dark looking for you?! You've already tripped a couple times.
"Over here." He clicks his light on and shines it in your direction, lighting a path for you to the other corner of the yard. He's sitting on a wooden fence, but he stands up and takes a few steps toward you as you approach.
You walk briskly, fighting the urge to run to him (you do have some pride... plus, what if he rejects you?). He switches the light off when you're right in front of him... which you take as an invitation to hug him, maybe even kiss him, because he wouldn't want to light that up for Zack to see, right? "I'm sorry," you say sincerely as you reach for him. "I was a bitch before. Are you okay?"
He pulls you into his arms, and you're very glad you decided to come find him. He kisses your temple. "I'm fine. I was just... I'm fine. I'm sorry too, baby girl. An' you weren't a bitch -- I was bein' an asshole."
This is the part where you tell him he wasn't being an asshole... but you don't. Hey, it's enough that you made the first move, right? And he was being a dick! It's all good now, though... now that he's holding you close. "I don't want to upset you -- I won't even talk to Zack if you don't want me to." That's an easy promise to make, because you know Joel won't ask it of you!
"You can talk to him... be friendly to him. It's good for you to have friends closer to your age."
"He's not my age! He's a little boy! I'm like his mom."
Joel chuckles. "You're nowhere near old enough to be his mom."
You love that he hasn't pulled away from you yet, so you manage to contain your outrage at being compared to a kid. "Whatever. I don't wanna do anything that hurts you. I love you." You tug his face to yours for a kiss... and he lets you.
"Love you, too, sweet girl."
You like it when he calls you that. When he thinks you're sweet. You know better; you only act sweet when it suits you!
He kisses you sweetly, but not for long. "We should get back. Check on the boy."
"I sent him in the house. And told him to stay inside." You grin, even though Joel might not be able to see it. "Soooo we can stay out here for a while... he won't come looking..." You kiss Joel again, open-mouthed and hungry this time, and you press your body to his -- your crotch to his, to be precise -- in a way that he says drives him crazy...
"Ohhh no no no," Joel protests as best he can with your tongues both occupied. He tries to remove your arms from around his neck, but you're not budging. ...So he ducks away from you instead!
You try to corner him against the fence. "Aww, c'mon... just some innocent kissing and stuff..." You do corner him against the fence! In the actual corner, so he can't escape!
"What're you tryin' to do to me," he murmurs as you kiss again.
"Um... make-up sex?" you joke. You wish it wasn't just a joke, but--
"Can't have make-up sex unless you're already havin' regular sex."
-- yeah. That! "There's no rule about that. That's a JOEL rule." You're practically climbing on him when he (annoyingly) comes to his senses and holds you at arm's length. Still you attempt to close the gap, giggling a little at his resistance. "Joooeeelllll... what's the big deal? Zack's inside. We're alone."
"We ain't at home. I told you, no foolin' around out here. We're all business."
"Uh-huh. Sure." He did say that, but he hasn't stuck to it, strictly speaking.
He turns you around and starts marching you back toward the house.
"Um... would be nice if I could see, a little... you're going to run me into something!" In fact... "Ow!" You pretend to trip on some non-existent obstacle just as Joel takes a hand off you to switch the light back on.
His other hand is still on your shoulder, though, and while you expect to be able to slip out from under it to take your fake fall, quick as a flash he has his arm beneath you to keep you from hitting the ground. "You all right?"
"No!" You duck out from beneath his arm and plop to the ground, but keep hold of him so you can tug him down with you. ...or attempt to, anyway. He's being stubborn! Your hand slides down his arm until it reaches his hand, which you grasp as best you can. And fucking tug.
"Ellie, come on, now. Get up."
"This grass is so tall, even if he came out here, he wouldn't find us if you turn that light back off!" you giggle. "Please?"
"Please what?"
"Just... sit with me."
"You don't want me to sit. You want me to... play."
"Well, I guess that's one word for it. Pleeeease? One minute!"
He sighs and turns the light back off, so you know you have him now! He can't resist me! you think happily as you pull him down on top of you.
He plays with you for what amounts to more like ten or fifteen minutes. The truth is, he can resist you in some ways -- he won't have sex with you, and he'll barely do anything that falls in the sex category, really. It's a source of tension between you at times, but for the most part, you're cool with it. Joel makes you happy. Happier than you've ever been in your whole life. No need to get greedy... he's promised you that someday he will have sex with you, if you still want to when you're an adult. As if you might change your mind!
After you've plucked the stray grass off each other, you reluctantly make your way back toward the house. You're both hungry, but the stew can wait a few minutes; Joel offers to 'put the horses to bed' while you check on Zack. Joel shines the light on the door for you -- once you're inside, you can find Zack and use his light. You wonder what he's doing. You feel a wee bit guilty leaving him alone for so long.
...and a lot guilty when you open the door and hear him inside, screaming for help!
"Joel!" you call out, gesturing for him to come over.
