Pulling Weeds & Unclogging Toilet
Jan. 9th, 2005 05:04 pmSuch has been my exciting Sunday. And I didn't even mention the indoor chores I began my day with. No, that's not right either, I began the day leisurely reading the paper with my coffee. Cats lounging nearby.
{and by the way, Stad, YES I LIED about being on "E" - I forgot about Celine Dion, Disturbed, and the Dixie Chicks! So next week I'll make it to E)
I figured I'd spend about an hour weeding the front, and 2 in the back. Beginning with the front because that's the most seen and most likely to drive me bonkers if let go a single day longer. I was wrong, it took 1 1/2 hours. I was tempted to take a break but knowing myself, I also realized I may never venture out back if I did. The back did take 2 hours, but should have taken longer as I didn't quite finish - I was hot, tired, thirsty, legs were shaking, and I'd worn a hole through the middle finger of my right glove. All signals indicate STOP!
I need to spray before they all come back. I love the rain, hate the weeds.
Tired and beginning to feel sore, I was not prepared for the battle with the toilet. I think my toilet is a "low flow" kind - they say that's great for the water shortage and all but it just can't be, because just about every time you use the darn thing it won't flush right and you have to flush and plunge and flush and plunge. I used the new uberplunger Santa brought me, and also the old small one I have, and neither worked for the longest time. FINALLY uberplunger got the job done.
I haven't done much since then except lie around catching up on my mail. I have a sharp pain in my back whenever I get up. I hate to think what it will feel like tomorrow. Maybe I'll call in sick. Ha!!!! Me, call in sick? Never. Especially not after my hell day on Friday - I need to go in early and clean up the mess. (I do much better with paper messes that require no real physical labor)
Don't be surprised if in my next post I tell you I've been fired. Heh. Okay, no, it's not that bad - but I did allow the payroll to go out knowing that we were overpaying by 110 hours. It was already 6 hours late, I couldn't risk the checks not arriving on time - already our direct deposit is in jeopardy of being late. We think it will go in okay, but ADP won't guarantee it, so I'll be nervous until I call my bank and see that my moulah made it there safe and sound on Tuesday. I don't care so much for MY sake (I know it will get there by Wednesday at the latest) as I do for the zillion employees we have who write out checks early and take it for granted that their $ will be there - why wouldn't it? They trust me to make sure it does. Uhhhh, okay they don't trust ME, they don't know me and I prefer to keep it that way! They can yell at their supervisors.
Anyway, the whole fiasco wasn't my fault. It was our wonderful new system (it's actually OLD - it came out in 1980! Yeah, we're cutting edge now). I did my duty and informed my boss of the problems, to which he did nothing for the next few hours, being so consumed with the billing problems generated by this system, and meeting after meeting he had scheduled that day. Oh, and a coworker's birthday. I'm still BITTER that I didn't get to go out to lunch with him and my buds because of the stupid payroll. Oh well. At least I saved money. And I got the extra overtime, not taking a lunch!
I was going to write a bit about yesterday (a good day!) but now I don't feel like it. Maybe next time. I have more work to do - but it's Avon stuff, so it's FUN. No more weeds for a while. But damn, my yard looks good now....

Date: 2008-07-04 03:42 pm (UTC)The only time we've EVER not made a direct deposit was the time I was in England. I felt so bad for my boss when I found that out. Like I had failed her! Her training was pretty rushed, though.
