Note to self: WHY OH WHY are you thinking you should start RP so late in life? You have never played a real online game - and from the looks of the games you've been stalking looking at, you couldn't even write well enough/kinky enough to be a good player anyway. If they're adult, they're slash-friendly. You are not a big slash fan anyway. (amusing at times, but overall I don't prefer it) If there's no slash, the RP will be full of kids, perhaps wangsty ones. Not to mention there are a zillion other things you should be doing besides devoting even more time to the net, no?

Oooh, no, roleplaying is great! I've seen plenty of adult-friendly games that aren't slash oriented, either. You'll be fiiiine. :) And besdies, there are a million worse things you could waste your time on. And at least this way you get practise at creative writing and all that doodah. Y'see, edutainment. :)

But see, you've probably been doing it for years. I don't feel confident enough in my creative abilities. Plus, with Star Wars I don't know the EU at all... and with Harry Potter I need to re-read the books to get stuff drilled into my head.

I dunno... it's really daunting to think about just jumping in to a game having no clue what I'm doing, I'll end up reading about myself on bad_rpers_suck!

Hehe, I finally got to your slash comment!
I've often mentioned this to people -- that I was pretty anti-slash before I joined that crack RP -- but I'm sure it's a hell of a lot funnier stumbling on this organically like you did. Hee!

It was amazing how quickly I turned to the dark side, really. The thing that finally drew me into that game wasn't slash, though, it was just a good fun crack plot with an evil rock (aka convenient plot device!)
