How do I change how the date appears on this thing?

I guess it's no big deal, but my friends' journals have the month/day/year format and I'm jealous that I can't figure out how to make my dates show up like that. On the screen it appears this is how it will be, but when I post it mixes up the order.

No big deal, I know, the world is not ending, but if anyone knows how I can change this I would appreciate being clued in? I searched through the FAQs and settings on the site and found nothing related to this so apparently I am the only one with this problem in the whole wide world of users. Hmmmmm.

A Thwarted Attempt

As many of you know, I have four cats. One would think that this is enough... it IS enough, even I agree on that. But that doesn't stop me from thinking about having MORE.

I read the article in the Republic on Saturday about the 2 abandoned cats who needed to be placed together as they are best buddies, and it mentioned that they get along well with other cats... and I thought, "Six cats.... I can do it, six really isn't that many!" Realizing I was not completely thinking rationally here, I did not attempt to adopt them last weekend. I know I can give any cat a good home (have ya seen my house? aka Cat palace!) but that doesn't mean I can provide the BEST home. Indeed, a better home than mine would be one that has less than 4 cats already living in it. So I waited.

I couldn't stop thinking about those little angels needing a home... so yesterday I called the humane society to ask if they had been adopted yet. The lady told me yes they had, thanked me for calling anyway, and that was that. My brain was thinking, "Good! They found a home" but my heart was disappointed, even a little sad. Why am I such a psycho? My family and/or my boyfriend would shoot me if I got any more cats. So all's well that ends well.

Until I hear of another cat awaiting death that I have the means to rescue... you know, they say that you're not really a crazy cat lady unless you have MORE than 6 cats...
