Holy long game, Batman!
Jun. 10th, 2007 12:15 amI went to the baseball game tonight (Dbacks/Red Sox) and whoa was it good. Bad end result, but the game itself was really fun. Sold out crowd (49,800-something). That's rare down here! But the enemy team is really popular. I think there were more Boston fans than Arizona fans. Almost 4 hours long, though!
Many, MANY chants of "Yankees suck!" broke out around the place. The Red Sox fans were doing it but unless you're a Yankee fan (duh), you kinda have to hate the Yankees on principle. It was fun trying to out-chant the Red Sox fans. And the Sox have this guy named "Youkilis" - I never heard of him before and I wondered why everyone was booing. Only, they weren't booing, they were "youuuuu"-ing! I actually did it too even though he's the enemy. "Youing" and booing is fun.
Any marketing people on my f-list? Wouldn't it seem to you that... if you're going to give away something cool - as in, the most popular give-away item over the past few years - wouldn't it make more sense to do it when we're playing a team that's NOT popular? This game would have sold out anyway, they should save the lure for the crappy teams. We looked at the next few bobblehead nights on the schedule and those are also against popular teams. WTF?
The guy behind me was annoying. He kept talking to the girl he was with, who obviously knew nothing about baseball, explaining things to her - only, he didn't know what he was talking about cuz he kept giving her bad information. I almost turned around and corrected him a few times but then decided that would be asshattish of me so I kept my mouth shut.
So my day started really emotastic and ended up with me laughing and cheering and having fun. Yay. Now I think I'll get cracking on my f-list finally... but will probably get too tired and have to stop before I get up to date.
