I went to the baseball game tonight (Dbacks/Red Sox) and whoa was it good. Bad end result, but the game itself was really fun. Sold out crowd (49,800-something). That's rare down here! But the enemy team is really popular. I think there were more Boston fans than Arizona fans. Almost 4 hours long, though!

Many, MANY chants of "Yankees suck!" broke out around the place. The Red Sox fans were doing it but unless you're a Yankee fan (duh), you kinda have to hate the Yankees on principle. It was fun trying to out-chant the Red Sox fans. And the Sox have this guy named "Youkilis" - I never heard of him before and I wondered why everyone was booing. Only, they weren't booing, they were "youuuuu"-ing! I actually did it too even though he's the enemy. "Youing" and booing is fun.

Any marketing people on my f-list? Wouldn't it seem to you that... if you're going to give away something cool - as in, the most popular give-away item over the past few years - wouldn't it make more sense to do it when we're playing a team that's NOT popular? This game would have sold out anyway, they should save the lure for the crappy teams. We looked at the next few bobblehead nights on the schedule and those are also against popular teams. WTF?

The guy behind me was annoying. He kept talking to the girl he was with, who obviously knew nothing about baseball, explaining things to her - only, he didn't know what he was talking about cuz he kept giving her bad information. I almost turned around and corrected him a few times but then decided that would be asshattish of me so I kept my mouth shut.

So my day started really emotastic and ended up with me laughing and cheering and having fun. Yay. Now I think I'll get cracking on my f-list finally... but will probably get too tired and have to stop before I get up to date.

HEEEE! Me and my best friend are like Red Sox obsessed, so it's fun to see you talking about them. Mmmm...was Pedroia playing? She's trying to get tickets to the San Diego/Red Sox games this month, but it's not looking so hot. And then they leave San Diego for Seattle, so I'm trying to get tickets for those ones and so on. It's a vicious cycle. But yes. WHEEEEE BASEBALL.

YAY I'm glad someone is amused by my baseball rambling! Pedroia played, yeah. I don't remember what he did. Drew and Varitek are the ones that hit us good.

This is the first time the Red Sox have been here, since they're AL and all. The Dbacks went to Boston once a few years ago but they'd never come here.

"Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!" hehe. We need a guy we can yell that to.

I had never heard of that closer before either - damn, I already forgot his name. Something odd. Pabel-something? Ack, that doesn't sound right. I could go look it up but... I'm tired and lazy.

Hopefully you get to see them!

Jonathan Papelbon, the rookie sensation from last year who's already one of the best closers in the game.

Were people singing "I love it when you call me Big PAPI" when David Ortiz came up? And was Manny just being Manny?

So now are ya gonna check out Fever Pitch?

Papelbon, yeah! The Sox fans were LOUD when he came out. People had shirts for him too.

No, no Big Papi songs. I booed David Ortiz because it seemed like the cool thing to do. And Manny Ramirez didn't even play! David Ortiz was the cleanup hitter.

I would watch it some time, yeah. But you know I fail at planning movie-watching ahead of time. I'd have to catch it at just the right time.

Yeah, I was an advertising major. That sounds stupid to me too. I think sometimes promotions people get lazy. They have these good ideas, but they're too lazy to think through what would actually be the smartest way to do stuff.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I really like going to the small games we have around here. I got some free tickets from work, so we get to go in a couple of weeks. :-)

Aha. They don't seem to want to do this promotion when the other teams in our division are here, but we play them the most (unbalanced schedule = we play each of those times 19 times or something like that)... maybe they think that the competition in the division is enough to bring people in. But it doesn't! And... come on, the Colorado Rockies suck. They should do giveaways galore when they're here. Not that I'm biased because they let my favorite player go last week or anything.

Small games - minor league? Have fun!

The guy's worst offense was telling her there's TEN INNINGS in a game. And the annoying part - our game actually DID go ten innings so he still thinks he's right! Gah.
