I debated posting this, as it's not about me directly, and A. is a bit paranoid about online journaling, but meh - come on, now, who reads my journal? The FBI? The mafia? What would they want with him if they did? And it's not like Deep Dark Sekrits being revealed or anything.
A. was out of town over the weekend, for work. On the night he was driving home there was a Scary Incident at his mom's/sister's. His mom was in her special recliner in the living room, where she spends 99% of her homelife these past 6 months since she took a turn for the worse. His sister was out with her boyfriend, leaving boyfriend's 17-year-old sister (I'll dub her "X") at home to watch out for Mom. There was a knock on the door, late at night. X goes to the door and asks who it is; she hears a little girl's voice on the other side. Can't quite make out what she's saying. Now, A's sister and X's brother are quite social and do often have people stopping by at all hours of the day and night, so X wasn't particularly alarmed. She opened the door - and in waltzed 3 guys with guns. <.< There was a "little girl" but she was the girlfriend of one of the guys.
One guy stood by Mom pointing his gun at her. Another guy took X into a bedroom. Yeah. !!! The third guy started stealing shit. At this point Mom starts calmly pleading with her guy. "Look, I'm dying of cancer. If you shoot me now, oh well, it's you or the cancer. But don't hurt X. She's just a little girl. Do what you want to me, I don't care." For whatever reason, they didn't do anything to X, thank God. A. thinks it's because the guy's girlfriend was there. Whatever. They took the house phones (to delay the 911 call, surely) and cell phones, XBox, TV, other electronic stuff... not the computer though which is a really expensive model, so that was kinda dumb on their part. A.'s sister called him when she got home and warned him before he finished his drive... he said if he'd been there he wouldn't have made a good hostage. I bet! He would have been shot, possibly, for trying to do something heroic out of anger.
Thank God everyone's okay, just obviously pretty shaken up. And this was NOT a bad neighborhood, mind you. This is the house I stayed at last time I went up there (December) - it's nice, it's in a richer section of town. The cops believe it was a random hit. I swear this family has bad luck following them wherever they go. A.'s had his car stolen and/or broken into numerous times, his mom's place BURNED DOWN a couple years ago thanks to crackhead neighbors... and of course, the cancer is the worst offering of said black cloud. Of course, Las Vegas is a prime place to attract scum, no matter how nice the neighborhood is.
So, kids, lock your doors and don't open them for anyone you don't know!!! Question them, ask them who they know in the house, etc. It might not stop them from busting in but if they're just looking for an easy hit they could very well move along to a better victim. This is such common sense stuff, really, but I'm guilty of flinging my door open to anyone. (Hee - like the guy on Saturday who was trying to sell me stuff, I turned him down repeatedly, then he continued shamelessly flirting and asking me if I was on MySpace and stuff. He could have been a psycho killer and I just stood there and talked to him for 10 minutes) I'm too trusting in humanity.
And, randomly, aren't Anakin's eyes supposed to be blue? Why all of a sudden does it seem that they're green? Are they perhaps blue-green, kinda like my own? Does this mean we're soulmates? Hmmmmmmm.

We talked about green eyes last night, then I read a fic this morning wherein his eyes were also green. Strange. He must have decided to change them just for you!

Date: 2006-02-28 11:09 am (UTC)But I'm not even doing my second character justice - not to mention the character in my other game. Now that we don't get house points for playing I'm less motivated to play him :( I suck.

Date: 2006-02-28 11:20 am (UTC)And, yeah, sorry. Dooku's the only character I have where I have to be in a certain mood to play him.

Date: 2006-02-28 11:32 am (UTC)I think Palpy/Sly is interesting, since she despises him and all. Maybe Palpy will get his hate sex and leave your little Obi alone. Hehehe!
