I used to be obsessed with this game when I was wee. I finally remembered to go steal this meme from [livejournal.com profile] strangealchemy.

I died of exhaustion.

You died of exhaustion on Oregon Trail.

How'd you die on Oregon Trail?

I took that quiz last week. My roommate found it randomly surfing the net. It told me that I died of exhaustion too. I forget what it told my roommate, but hers was a much worse way to die than mine. :)

Probably cholera. That was a popular one :)
Did you ever play the actual game? I think you're probably too young for it - it was an 80s thing... I feel old!

yes, i played the game. We had to play it about twice a week during elementary school. I started school in 1988, yes I am young. Oregon Trail was popular until the early 90's, at least where I lived. :p

Ah! Okay then. I'm remembering playing it in like '87 and '88... don't think I played it in high school which would be '88 - '92... but it might have still been around, I dunno.

Hehehe, [livejournal.com profile] strangealchemy still says "at least it's not cholera" in her journal sometimes, comparing whatever she's talking about to the result she got on this little quiz thing.

Did you ever play that game in school? I have a matching icon now!

I had to go edit my icon on this post. Not like anyone's ever going to see it again, but oh well!

Nope, as I said in my post, it was being used in schools when I had gone BACK to college to finish my first degree.

Like you said in WHAT post? The only one on here is you cursing LJ for compulsively refreshing itself!

Oh, well, see...there WAS a post I typed up that obviously LJ saw fit to eat about how the only time I ever saw that program was when I was finishing my accounting degree and working at the media center for BOCES.

Continuing my Joe Story: When he cleaned out his office, he forgot one desk drawer. I put it all into expandable files and let him know it was here and he'd have to pick it up.

So, today Mark and I were moving the last of some files out of Joe's old office. That's when I noticed that files had been removed from those expandable folders.

There were a few other stray miscellaneous things in those folders as well, including a bag of change. Joe used to throw loose change into his desk drawer because he hated carrying it around.

Well, the bag of change is one of the miscellaneous things missing. We KNOW he hasn't been here during work hours.

That's when we remembered something from a few days ago.

Mark was the first one in two days last week. Both days, the deadbolt on the door wasn't locked. When we leave at night, we only lock the bottom lock, the cleaning staff is supposed to lock BOTH locks after they do their cleaning.

We called building management to have them speak to the cleaning company about it, but NOW we're wondering if Joe let himself into the office?

IF he did, we should be able to figure it out. To get into the BUILDING before or after hours there is a passcard you need to swipe to let yourself in, and it records who is coming and going.

So, building management is going to disable his passcard and check to see when it was last used.

They are also calling their locksmith to get the deadbolt and the door lock changed. So, we'll all have new keys soon too.

It's just really, REALLY, left a bad feelinge in everyone's attitude towards him now. This isn't the first "Joe Matter" that has surfaced since he's left, just a month ago, and we're all feeling a bit used and abused.

You are NOT going to believe this one. Tony wants me to go through all the files from Joe's office and see if he TOOK anything when he left. He specifically said, "See if anything's been unstabled and he took a copy." When I pointed out that we stable and unstable things all the time and I can't know if that meant Joe took a copy with him when he left, Tony's response was, "Stop being difficult and say you'll look into it."

So, I'm looking into it. This is such a fucking waste of time!!!

That's pretty LOL-worthy! (only responding to your last comment here cuz you didn't say I HAD to do the rest :P)

What exactly is he going to do if you find something that's had a staple removed? And you're right, how is it even proof that Joe took it and not that, say, someone else needed a copy of it, perhaps ages ago before Joe even left??? You're so difficult, Deborah!!!
