Jul. 28th, 2006 07:51 amThis week's
thefridayfive theme is The Name Game.
1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain. No. My parents liked "Wendy" because it was uncommon at the time - now it seems to be more common - and it couldn't be shortened to anything. Apparently my brother and I do have middle names after certain people... a popular couple at my mom's high school that my mom wasn't even friends with. WTF? Maybe she was joking about that. The subject hasn't come up in years.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance? No kids for me, kthxbye.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been? I was born first so it would have been the name given to my brother the following year - Brian.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why? Hmmm, how psycho should I get on this question? I think I'll just... not let y'all see the inner workings of the psycho part of my brain when it comes to names. Heh. My name is fine, I don't care about renaming myself. Though my boss is named Wendy, too, and it's annoying when we get each other's phone calls and stuff. But, meh. I did want to change the spelling of my name in middle school. I wanted to be "Wendi" so I could sign my name with a little heart over the "i." *eyeroll* Instead I developed a different way of signing the "y" and I still write that way today, with all letters that have tails.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly? "Windy" instead of "Wendy." Both in spelling and pronunciation. Totally doesn't bother me though. I like being called Wendy-bird (Peter Pan) and jokes regarding my name + it being windy outside neither amuse me or annoy me anymore.

Date: 2006-07-28 04:08 pm (UTC)We need to start a new circular note! Ha ha.
I'm going to dig out one of those from storage and copy it and send it to you one of these days. If I don't die laughing first.

Date: 2006-07-28 04:10 pm (UTC)It's really an accent thing with some people. Karen says "Windy" too. Though we still call each other "Tiger" more often than not. Funny how some things just stick.
I like Dobbers too! *lick*

Date: 2006-08-01 06:32 pm (UTC)I agree about the Amanda thing. I'm not sure I know the other last name you refer to, or are they the same?
I called you Kat once, I think, but I've got it down now. I have two Kats on my friends list but you're my only Cat. Awww. *pets you and makes you meow*
