The Force is with me
Jun. 14th, 2007 07:29 pmWHOA my hair is straight! And it's going to be straight until at least Sunday! I took some pictures because this is a rare occurrence. I'll probably post them over the weekend. Also got a random shot of my boobs because I thought the auto-timer was still on and it wasn't. *snicker* Fully-clothed, perverts.
Why did I straighten my hair the day before sitting on my ass for 15 hours, you ask? Well, I already had a hair appointment tonight (every 3 months) and I told my girl she didn't have to fuss with it afterwards cuz I wasn't going anywhere... but she insisted on straightening it because she had an extra half hour and she'd always wanted to. So of course I wasn't about to stop her. She asked if I'd want to do it myself at home - I promptly said "Nooooo - too much work!" I spend about 3 minutes fixing my hair, if that. And after she was at it for about 20 minutes she admitted it was actually more work than she thought. My hair just does not want to be straight! It took her about 35 minutes to straighten it all the way. But it looks soooooooo good for once. I wish I WAS going out somewhere. And it'll get even flatter as it gets more oils building up in it. I wonder how long I can wait to wash it before it drives me nuts?
I won a rolling duffel bag at the luncheon today! Totally useful, I was so excited to win that. I can't believe I won 2 years in a row. There's hundreds of people at this thing and only about 25 prizes.
Now, upward and onward - tomorrow is my marathon!
Wendy's Star Wars Marathon Rules
I'm editing these from last time in bold - or sometimes just adding commentary. They're written as if someone is watching them with me because... well, last time there was :)
0.5) Don't watch ANY of the movies for at least one month prior to the marathon, if not longer.
1) The first movie (The Phantom Menace) starts at 7:00am, possibly can be delayed 'til 7:30 but NO LATER THAN THAT. Just because. I'm aiming for 6-6:30 now, actually, since I have the Clone Wars cartoons to watch too.
2) Bathroom breaks between movies only. Yes, I realize there's a pause button, or that you might be willing to miss a few minutes to go relieve yourself, but still. Shouldn't have to do that.
3) Snacking/eating during movies is fine, but no stopping in between movies to go get food. We're sticking to easy, microwave stuff.
4) No phone calls. Cell phones turned off, ringer turned off on house phone. No returning messages between movies either. No one is going to die if you don't talk to them.
5) Petting cats is okay. They get whiny sometimes if they want attention and you ignore them. But you should try to get the cat to watch the movie with you rather than play. Heeeee! Anakin does not like watching RotS, but he'll watch any of the others. Cute.
6) Moving around during movies is okay. I can't sit all stoic for 13 hours myself.
7) No talking during the emo parts. I bawl when I watch them by myself, I'm curious to see how much I'll cry with someone else present. There are certain people I can cry with while watching movies and certain ones I can't no matter how sad the movie. But the wailing, pathetic kind of crying has only taken place when alone. We both cried last time. But I didn't bawl.
8) No interwebz. Full attention paid to the movies.
I added that last one for myself - last time I didn't even have a laptop, so being online in the other room wasn't even a question. But anyone else would be allowed to be online with their sound turned off if they chose to, and if they were quiet/not distracting.
This week's
thefridayfive is about music:
1. Do you download music not from the popular genres of Top 40, pop, rock, rap, dance, R&B, or country? There's no "indie" or "alternative" in that list so yes. But usually it's my brother downloading it and telling me I should check it out.
2. Are there any musicians for whom you've downloaded a significant amount of their material yet own few or none of their albums? Not really, I'm relatively new to this downloading business.
3. Have you ever enjoyed a downloaded album so much that you went and bought the physical album? Yes! The Fray. I wanted to listen to it in my car and my car doesn't play burned CDs, only factory ones.
4. How many different ways of playing music do you own (such as radio, stereo system, computer, Walkman/Discman, mp3 player, mp3-ready phone, etc.)? Five. Everything but the last one.
5. Do you still have and/or play a favorite vinyl album, cassette tape, or 8-track tape? I have some cassettes for their sentimental value. Most of the mix tapes (hehe, another Lost reference ftw!) I made off the radio, also Bon Jovi "Slippery When Wet" and Cyndi Lauper "She's So Unusual" - among others, those stand out as being my favorites.
ETA2: Mostly for my bro, but if anyone else knows... is there a new Coldplay out? Because I just heard a song I've never heard before called "Easy to Please" - someone made a Jack/Kate vid to it. I only watched it to hear the song :) Is it old and I somehow never got it? Google search only turned up lyrics. Granted, I didn't search very hard. Because I'm lazy like that.

Date: 2007-06-15 03:52 pm (UTC)Who makes lists and schedules starting times and posts rules for a relaxing movie day? hahaha. Omg, if I watched movies like you, I'd probably have a nervous breakdown! You make it seem like work! Or espionage.
Drill Sergent Voice: Okay...we're starting at 0600. I'm allowing 5.5 minutes for pee-breaks. But that means on the couch after 5.5 minutes! No dallying, soldiers! This is a lock down situation. No communications with the outside world. The commies might get us! You think this is funny, Private! Drop and give me twenty! I'm not your mother! I don't like you. Now grab your Doritos and watch this movie like a Soldier, Pretty Boy!/Drill Sergent Voice
As far as the new Coldplay, I haven't HEARD anything. But I'm relatively out of the loop. The only interesting thing I've heard is that Jack White of White Stripes fame apparently has a HUUUUUUUGE schlong. But there you go.

Date: 2007-06-16 06:32 am (UTC)It took 16 hours 15 minutes, with the cartoons included. Did you know Aoife's first master is in one of those? Just on the comm. But yeah, too funny. I picked him randomly off the wiki - first human Jedi I clicked on who died in the Clone Wars.

Date: 2007-06-16 12:23 pm (UTC)You know I think I knew that. Me and Chris watched the Clone Wars not too long ago and I think I recognized the name.
Also, you commented about me not liking you in the other thread (which I can't be bothered to bring up because my computer is being sketchy :( ), omg no, you're way ambitious. I mean you do loads of stuff. I don't mean like..further yourself by university or whatever. I mean just further yourself in general. Like you do Avon and you're all on top of things with your online communities and you make rules for watching movies (heheheh, still amused). I mean people who...say, don't understand..I dunno, something like the internet, and rather than admitting they don't understand it and maybe asking for help, they say "OOOH The internet is bad, it's the source of alll evile!". Those types of people. Heheh I like you! *huuuugs!*
Also, I wish I had curly hair. Booo! I want ringlet curls!

Date: 2007-06-16 03:25 pm (UTC)Hehe, well, I figured I was somehow excluded from that group, unless you're really fake and... you often invite people you don't like to come visit you! I just matched the description "from a certain point of view." OMG I'm channeling old!Obi.
The only bad thing about this straight hair is that it needs to be combed often or it gets funky-looking on the ends. I'm not used to messing with my hair after I fix it in the morning. Now I feel vain. Oh, except on bad hair days, then I put braids in it and stuff if it's wanting to fly all over the place. See, you want CURLS, but to have curly hair means you have to tame the frizz! And if you put too much product on, your hair feels gross. It's a balancing act. *sage nod*
I should be online later this afternoon... you'll probably be sleeping. Aww.

Date: 2007-06-16 06:34 am (UTC)I will! You probably haven't even seen me with curly hair since you're newish. Ha ha, I shall burn a mental image of straight-haired me in your brain!
