I don't know if I mentioned that J left for the Navy shortly after he graduated. He's in boot camp now.

He wants letters. I thought in this day and age they'd let the recruits send emails instead of writing letters, it seems so archaic to send snail mail! But nope, at least for the time being, snail mail it is.

I can't remember the last time I hand-wrote a letter. I used to write them EVERY SINGLE DAY. I spent my college lecture classes writing them (and see where that got me? Pay attention in class, kids!). Of course, I could just type something up on the computer, but I want to hand-write it.

My dad came over yesterday and assembled the foundation of my Star Wars shrine. Yay! Now I just have to make room for it >.>

Well, right now it's an empty bookcase. But "foundation" sounds more glamorous. Hee!

When I was in high school I was going to make a star wars shrine (bookcase) for a design tech project. It never happened though as I didn't have time and focused on the workbench project (it got me my A* though!)

That's way too high tech for me. The workbench would be too, though. This one didn't even require tools for assembly. I'm sure I could have done it, but Dad likes doing things like that and he offered to sooooooo I left it for him to do on his next visit. Aren't I a nice daughter?

I understand that, it's the sort of thing I'd like to do. Don't have space or time to do one at the moment - maybe when I get my own place and can't afford to go out anymore!

I don't see the appeal. I don't have an inner Anakin, I suppose. "Life is so much simpler when you're fixing things." I'll put stuff together just because I want the finished product, not because it's fun. It's frustrating and confusing! Well, depending on the clarity of the directions. But usually they're crap.

Yeah, we have IKEA, and I've made plenty of flat packs before. But making it properly by cutting wood to size and fixing it all together - that's much more fun!
I made the fitted wardrobes in my room at home, none of that flat pack stuff, just sheets of wood and some tools and time.
