Friday Five
Feb. 1st, 2008 09:23 amI need to remember that sometimes change, although generally despised by me and quite a lot of others as well, is a good thing. Sometimes there are things at work that we don't understand and aren't meant to understand. And sometimes we don't understand the things we should understand until after the change occurs.
Enough of that.
This week's
thefridayfive is "Soulmates." Well, this shouldn't take long:
1. Do you believe you can have more than one soulmate in life? No.
2. Are you with that soulmate now? No.
3. If not, how long did your relationship with your soulmate last? I'm quite sure I haven't met my soulmate.
4. Do you still think about your soulmate, if you are not together? See #3.
5. IF you're not together, do you think your soulmate still thinks about you? See #3.
Bugger. How about asking for a definition of "soulmate"? Because I'm sure people have different ideas about that. But I wasn't asked so I'm not going to get into that now.
Enough of that.

Date: 2008-02-01 05:09 pm (UTC)Heh - no, I do have a vague notion in my head of what I want to say, it's just not going to come our properly, I'm sure. It's highly romanticized, but "belief" means it doesn't have to have roots in reality...
I do believe in soulmates (that would have been another good question for this subject - whether or not one believes in them) but I believe most people don't ever meet theirs. In fact, it'd be hard to find ANYONE who's met theirs. Soulmates may not necessarily even be from the same era in time. And the world is huge... they could be anywhere. Your soulmate would be the one person who would completely understand you and be understood in return, you would bring out the best in each other and through being together you would both reach your potential in life. There would be a great mutual attraction on all levels. Now, since we're talking humans, I should point out that things wouldn't be PERFECT. But pretty damn close.
I do believe there are a great many people that a person can have a wonderful, fulfilling relationship with, and be very happy and content. Just not to the soulmate level because that's so much rarer than the media would have us believe.
And there's wank at the community - ha! I figured there would be with this set.

Date: 2008-02-02 12:24 am (UTC)And yeah, the word is waaaaay overused. And I bet more people than not would stay in a bad relationship because they don't want to be alone, and they'd call it LUUUUUUUURVE. I'm perfectly happy to be single, thank you.
