It's almost marathon time again! Finally!
Mar. 21st, 2008 05:02 pmExactly one week from now I will be in Star Wars fangirl bliss! Here are the rules I'm abiding by. They're written as if someone else would be watching with me.
I only tweaked these slightly. The boldinated stuff is my commentary, which changes from marathon to marathon.
1) Don't watch ANY of the movies for at least one month prior to the marathon, if not longer.
Got that covered. It's been about two.
2) The first movie (The Phantom Menace) starts at 7:00am, possibly can be delayed 'til 7:30 but NO LATER THAN THAT. Just because.
I don't think I've actually ever started as late as 7. I don't know what I'm gonna do when we have the new Clone Wars stuff out on dvd. O.o Not enough hours in the day!
3) Bathroom breaks between movies only. Yes, I realize there's a pause button, or that you might be willing to miss a few minutes to go relieve yourself, but still. Shouldn't have to do that.
4) Snacking/eating during the movies is fine, but no stopping in between movies to go get food. Just easy, microwave stuff.
Yes, you can see the TV from my kitchen, so this is quite do-able.
5) No phone calls/texts. Cell phones turned off, ringer turned off on house phone. No returning messages between movies either. No one is going to die if you don't talk to them.
I should probably revise this rule because I'm possibly tempting fate here? But I do have a very drama-free life, free of family emergencies and the like. *knock on wood*
6) Petting cats is okay. They get whiny sometimes if they want attention and you ignore them. But you should try to get the cat to watch the movie with you rather than play.
At least twice now, Anakin has left the room during RotS. LOL
7) Moving around during the movies is okay. I can't sit still for so many hours myself!
And actually, last time I remember I dozed through a bit of Empire. FOR SHAME. Must move around more.
8) No talking during the emo parts, including the pre-emo or buildup-to-emo parts. Only crying is allowed.
9) No interwebz. Full attention paid to the movies.
~
A more personal post may be coming later, though I think perhaps not, as I've already commented enough about this on other people's journals (where it, oddly enough, was appropriate to what they were talking about) and I'm sorta "talked out" even though I never really posted about it. O.o No, nothing bad, just musings on a RL friendship.
If I don't get around to that... Happy Easter, f-list, and may the Easter bunny bring you loads of chocolate!

Date: 2008-03-22 04:16 am (UTC)*says the girl who fell asleep at the midnight premiere of TPM... whoops*
Missing HALF of a movie would be cause for major backtracking. I woke up fast enough that I could snap myself out of it and walk around a bit :)

Date: 2008-03-23 05:04 pm (UTC)I am one of those people who talk through the ENTIRE movie. Seriously. "Hey look at that extra in the background." "Did you know they didn't use real food for this scene?" "That was such a corny line." "So next week I'm thinking of painting my toenails." Luckily the person I'm watching it with does the same thing.
I will actually be able to do the food thing, because we're gonna have pizza delivered. Yum!

Date: 2008-03-23 05:39 pm (UTC)Ha ha, you're SO not invited here then :P I don't mind some talking, I did talk to the one friend who's ever done this with me :) but she was good and shut it during the emo parts, and we both cried. It's impossible to get into it enough to cry if you're yammering away about nail polish! ;)
Oooo pizza. Me want!

It's important to a point. Should not disturb the emo, however.
