I don't talk about American Idol much in here (I have communities for that!) - aren't you guys lucky? Heh. But I had to yoink this from [livejournal.com profile] adamlambertai8 and save it for myself.

I LOVE HIM!!! Why do I have no icons of him yet?? I only see a bazillion of them every day. Will remedy that when I have more time. (ETA: fixed! I have a paltry 3 of him now. It's a start)

I can't believe none of my coworkers like him! What is wrong with them?

Funny how I don't remember this as being a 1982 song. I only remember the Gary Jules cover.

Sorry Archie but I think I love him more than you...

Poor Archie, little did he realize you are a fickle bitch!!! LOL

I still love him but he's not ADAM! lol

Wendy has to move onto new jailbait now.... Eventually, her old jailbait will become legal and lose their charm to our resident cat lady.

Dude! He's not jailbait! If you watched the video you would know that, he says his birthday right in the beginning (the theme this week was "songs from the year you were born") -- he's 27!

Heh, you failed to see my sarcastic point, o' resident cat lady.

Did I?

Old jailbait is no longer jailbait either, though, actually -- he turned 18 in December! lol

I'm saying you like your boys young and fresh. Young being a subjective term and fresh being a term of exposure to the media.

If I remember that name correctly, isn't that the blind guy? (I didn't watch the video, sorry, no desire to watch some baby here) EB hates him and wants him to go already. He thinks that donk is getting sympathy votes for being blind. So clearly you are WRONG with your choice. Again!

(I miss watching the REAL A.I. - Iverson, not that you'd know anything about him)

Nooooo you're thinking of Scott! He's the Big Deal in Arizona because he's from Scottsdale so he gets the most press around here (not that that has anything to do with EB). But I don't really like him! Even when the judges praise him I'm like "meh" - but he was pretty bad last night. I think he might get kicked off tonight.

You should watch the video!

i'm not much of a fan. i'll admit that last night's song was good, and motown week was beautiful, but he just annoys the hell out of me when he gets to screaming. he sounds like a cat in heat. i can't stand it. last week when he sang "play that funky music" i laughed for the whole performance. LAUGHED. i dont think you're supposed to do that.

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
So you do at least like the ballads that he does!

Did you like "Black Or White" or was that too scream-y for you too? Hehe. I loved "Ring of Fire" and that's the one everyone's slamming. I mean, yeah, he kinda sounded like he was on drugs but it was so original!!

Who's your favorite????

I think Scott's in trouble. That was not good at all last night. I used to like Lil a lot, then I started not liking her so much, but last night I liked her again even though the judges didn't.

omg.. when he did "Black and White" i was HORRIFIED. both of us sat staring at the TV like "WTF was THAT?" oh it was so bad. I haven't heard his Ring of Fire performance, but i heard a short clip on the radio and was again, horrified. personally i have a really difficult time hearing songs that are personal favourites of mine, being butchered in a cover that bears hardly any resemblence to the original.

we only started watching a few weeks ago, and then we only caught some of the performances. we watched the full thing the past 2 weeks. At first i really loved Gokey, but i'm wondering about him now. you know how it usually goes. everyone loves this one person at first but then you get tired of them and someone else starts standing out so you start liking them more. Gokey is always solid, i can say that, but he hasn't floored me with anything he's done. Last week i LOVED Kris Allen. like my jaw was hanging open when he performed. This week i cringed. who knows who will come out on top of my heart! :)

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
AHAHAHA you silly, is that all it takes to horrify you? :)

I like it when they change up an old song and make it fresh. Granted, it doesn't always work. Do you remember last year Kristy Lee Cook did "Eight Days A Week" all country-fied? THAT made me shudder. (apparently not as much as it made everyone else shudder, but I still remember it! It was a ghastly arrangement!)

One of my coworkers likes Danny Gokey, and he's my mom's favorite too. Another girl liked Adam in the beginning but "Ring of Fire" turned her off and she hopped into the Kris Allen boat.

Shall we predict tonight's bottom 3? I think Scott, Lil, and Allison (who really doesn't deserve to be there but apparently doesn't have as much of a fan base as the others).

From: [identity profile] gizzi1213.livejournal.com
Karen in my office agrees with you on Scott and Lil. However, she thinks Kris Allen will be the third person in the bottom three but will be saved. She thinks Scott will go home.

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Ohhh did I know that Karen was an Idol fan? I don't think I did! Have you kept that from me so I won't try to discuss things with her using you as the middle man? LOL

This year there's no office pool :( so watching the results show isn't nearly as fun as it was last year. But I hope she's wrong about Kris. It doesn't really matter, though, as long as he's not the one leaving!

Karen is a HUGE AI fan. She was just showing me clips of Adam, Scott, and whoever the 16 year old girl is on the website.

From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
LOL and now it's time to go home!

The 16-year-old is Allison. She's really good! Did you see Scott from last night? I think that was his worst performance yet. Poor guy.

No relation!

I don't think he goes REAL low, but he's got a good range, don't you think?

He might not be gay - he could be bi! We know he likes guys but he could still like girls too :) Doesn't matter, not like I have a shot either way!

I have time to go icon-hunting now but I'm paranoid about saving pictures at work so I'll be good and won't.

You know, I normally hate American Idol...but I LOVE HIM HE IS SO HOT.

He's like the best of glam rock and the eighties put together. And unlike 99% of people on that show he really is original, has a wonderful, original voice and knows how to moddulate it voice to different effects, has an amazing stage presence and just generally deserves so much more than being on American Idol.

Wow, apparently I am so impressed with this guy that I wrote totally incoherently...well, you get the idea.

Date: 2009-04-08 08:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Hehehe! Yes I get the idea, and I love that someone else on my f-list loves him!!!

I don't know if he'll win Idol (BECAUSE he's so different) but you just know he's gonna go on to do great things. He's just amazing. I wish I'd blogged about him earlier cuz I've liked him since the auditions (though I'm a horrible fan, I don't remember what city he auditioned in). My mom is coming around slowly... he started winning her over when he did that awesome unplugged "Tracks of My Tears" - did you see that?

GUH, so much awesome in that boy.

Date: 2009-04-08 08:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zigsternenstaub.livejournal.com
Definitely. Man, I hope that he *doesn't* win, because winning Idol is the worst way to get famous. He needs to make it to the last couple of slots, and then lose and get snatched up by some music exec with vision.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
YES. I wouldn't say winning Idol is the WORST way, but he is already so good at what he does... he doesn't need Idol guiding him, limiting him in what he does... let someone like Kris win for that reason!

And you know the first single is always some shmaltzy thing. Actually, I'd love to see Adam mix that up -- he should make it to the finals for that reason! (plus the longer he's on my screen every week the better)

Date: 2009-04-08 09:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zigsternenstaub.livejournal.com
Oh, I know the first single is always some sentimental piece of shit. I hate their songwriters something awful.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
I actually like the David Cook song, except for the "magic rainbow" line. *cringe*

And last year they had the songwriting competition -- not sure if they went that route this year.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zigsternenstaub.livejournal.com
Didn't hear that one. I only follow Idol sporadically.

Yeah, a songwriting competition is an okay idea, but not all singers are songwriters and some of the crap singers can come up with is truly horrendous.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Yeah, it was a separate contest, had nothing to do with the singers. I don't remember all the details. I think there was one round where the finalists got to choose which of those songs they performed that week (maybe when it was the top 3 or 4?) and then for the finale one of their numbers had to be the "winning" song...don't remember who chose that. It wasn't anything we voted on.

Date: 2009-04-08 09:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] zigsternenstaub.livejournal.com
Got it. That makes more sense. Though that still means that they had to choose between examples of the horrible crap that those corporate sellouts spew out annually for this competition.

Excuse my bitterness, ahem. :D

Date: 2009-04-08 09:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lumy12.livejournal.com
Yes they did :P

You can be bitter. It's true! There's plenty to diss about American Idol. I used to do it myself, until I got hooked. LOL

But now it's like Star Wars... inherently flawed, but the flaws only endear it to my heart...

...okay, did I just compare AI to SW? Sorry! Forgive me!

Oh my God, Ziggy! Could you be any more awesome??? Yaaaaay ~ and I didn't even NAG you for an update yet, either!

And - and - it's Thursday so I get to link it on [livejournal.com profile] jedi_news! w00t!

I shall save it as my reward for working out after work :)

Well, I definitely could be more awesome, but I need to save some awesome up for the future:D

I anticipated the nag, and yea verily it motivated me along with all of the nice reviews I got for the last part.

Yay, promotion!

Hurrah! I can count on you at least to like it. Sadly, I do not feel that this chapter is well-loved on ff.net, for it mainly concerns our poor, misunderstood and beloved Emperor Palpatine:(

Oh good, nice reviews always help!

I think each chapter you've posted has been pimped in J_N, since UP is on our "watcher" list. I'm just squeeful because *I* get to pimp it this time.

Awww, poor Palps! *pets him* I look forward to reading it! In... approximately 2 hours xD
