Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Jul. 15th, 2009 11:26 pmOh man am I gonna be tired tomorrow! As I'm still a little wound up from post-movie coffee (er, even though we had caramel apple non-coffee things) I may as well babble about the movie a bit. Random out-of-order nearly stream-of-conscience type rambling beneath the cut.
- I loved it! Not sure if it beats GoF (has to stand the test of time) but it definitely beats OotP.
- Lots of humor in this one, yay! Nice offset to the eerie dark parts.
- Ron + Love Potion = LOLOL
- Lavender! LOVED her, she was perfectly annoying!
- Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes was awesome!
- I've never been a big Draco fan... but I adored crying!Draco. *pets him* (yes, I'm predictable)
- Kinda wanted moreRon/Ginny ETA: yeahhhh I meant Harry/Ginny! action...not sure I like how they changed up their kiss scene... but it was good. There was enough of it. All the teen romance stuff in general was well-done, I thought.
- Slughorn = win; I liked him more here than I remember liking him in the book
- They didn't really explain the whole Prince thing. I thought we might actually get to the end of the movie without being told who the "prince" is... they cut out the Eileen Prince stuff and didn't the book have a lot more memory-watching as well? Can't fault them for that, the movie's still 2.5 hours long, and they can add some of that Snape stuff towards the end of the second DH movie if they want to expand on it. Doesn't add anything here.
- The cave stuff was GREAT. Pretty much exactly how I pictured it. I wanted to cry for Harry having to force Dumbledore to drink, but I didn't. :(
- I did cry at the end with all the wand raising though. *sniffle*
- Wasn't there like... a battle at the end? Yeah, not in this movie. Killed Dumbledore, off we go. Couldn't the scene at the Burrow be traded for a more extensive scene here?
- I'm sad that Dumbledore didn't say "I'll be fine, Harry. I'm with you." That's MY FAVORITE LINE. Okay except I probably just got it wrong BUT YOU KNOW THE ONE I MEAN, RIGHT? It makes me bawl when I read it.
- I have bushy hair like Hermione. Why have I never dressed up like Hermione and gone to a midnight showing? I should do that for 7 and/or 8. Of course, I'm too FAT to be Hermione...not to mention too old... meh.
- Luna was lovely. Can Harry be with both her AND Ginny plz? I...think I'm finally over my Harry/Hermione bug. Yay.
- Creepy!young!Voldie was creepy. ...someone is going to write a very bad Slughorn/Tom Riddle fic based on the "it'll be our little secret" scene. *snicker*
- Totally going to go see this again. But not until I can use my movie passes!
- Aragog :(
- Quidditch :) Would have loved to hear Luna's commentary.
Okay I'm getting too tiiiiired now. I think you get the idea: I loved it! Go see it!
Now that it's safe to read my f-list again...I'm going to sleep!

Date: 2009-07-16 07:54 am (UTC)I only saw two people dressed up for my premiere. There was a chick with a Gryffindor scarf, and two chicks dressed up in some weird... quidditch cheerleader outfits?! Gryffindors, too. FIGURES!
I was a tad annoyed with the teen romance stuff, though... but felt it broke up the drama pretty nicely... most of the time.

Date: 2009-07-16 01:23 pm (UTC)I don't remember the Gryffindor hat Luna wore but my friend said that was in the book. Heh.

Date: 2009-07-16 11:46 am (UTC)Uhm... Ron/Ginny action and a kiss scene? Don't you mean Harry/Ginny?? I hope Ron didn't kiss his sister! (Isn't it enough we had that in StarWars??? *LOL*)
I totally don't remember the DD sentence you're talking about and I've just read the book. Uhm... Guess we all remember the things that mean most to us personally - which would be different for each of us, naturally :)
7 hours until I can see the film...

Date: 2009-07-16 01:20 pm (UTC)Oh now I have to go find the exact quote! (and page #!)
Have fun!!!
ETA: Found it!! Page 578: "I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you."
Guh. LOVE that. I feel like that's where DD passes the torch to Harry, so to speak.

Date: 2009-07-16 12:30 pm (UTC)We have pretty much all the same thoughts. Which makes me happy.
I'm totally shipping Harry/Luna. Even though last movie I was a hardcore Neville/Luna shipper. I still am, to a degree. I just don't like Harry and Ginny.
Hahaha I went as Hermione to the book 7 premiere. I should find those pictures. Now I go as Bellatrix because my hair's longer and darker.

Date: 2009-07-16 01:26 pm (UTC)I see you posted too, I'll read that at work :)
Harry and Ginny are sweet, though. So you approved of my canon change in my post putting Ron with Ginny? LOL
Ooooo Bellatrix, then you can act all crazy! And do that highpitched cackle!

Date: 2009-07-17 02:52 am (UTC)I only dressed up for the GOF premiere. I went as Bellatrix.
..and people thought I was Sirius in drag. D: BECAUSE APPARENTLY LOTS OF THE MOVIE-GOERS DID NOT READ THE BOOKS. (And I wasn't aware that Bellatrix was being left out of GOF movie) .. it was slightly alarming.

Date: 2009-07-17 03:57 am (UTC)Sirius in drag??? LOL puh-leeez! Not sure I can picture you as Bellatrix... I'm seeing more Tonks... must be the (formerly) pink hair!

I wish Harry had ended up with Luna in the end. She's the only female character I really like in this series.

Date: 2009-07-17 01:16 pm (UTC)They DO seem perfect for each other in that they're both outcasts :) (well, Harry not so much now, of course, but throughout his life and in OotP when they met) They're both different.

I'm definitely going to see it again. As soon as it's been out long enough for me to use my passes!
Oh - and Brian wonders why you're ignoring him on myspace. LOLZ MYSPACE DRAMUH!
