Driving to work this morning, Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" came on the radio. This is a song that no matter how many zillion times I've heard it, I won't switch off of it when it comes on. Also, the volume goes up. Even if it was loud to begin with.

There's just something time-travel-y about this song, if I allow it. Today I let my mind wander back to a different time, driving to work in a different car to a different job on a different route - when this song was new and was getting overplayed as new songs often do, much to my teenage fangirl delight. I can picture the stoplight where I would be happy for a red light because then I could "headbang" to it. When I was young and innocent, full of hope and something resembling dreams.

I think about everything that's happened to that naive young girl, and how different everything is now... yet that's still me. I'm still her. Somehow I'm not so far removed that I can't remember.

I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe a bit of both?
