Yet another fic poll
Nov. 2nd, 2016 07:36 pmBut a quickie this time!
[Poll #2056933]
As a person who will read just about anything out there, I'm a little concerned that I might be insensitive when it comes to warning others of triggery or disturbing content. I would rather not spoil things in the story by over-warning, but maybe that's uncool of me. Does anyone have thoughts to share on this? Any insight from personal experiences, either as reader or author?
The warnings on the fic I'm worried about will probably scare off most would-be readers anyway. But still...

Date: 2016-11-03 03:25 am (UTC)I don't think I could warn for every possible little thing without overdoing the per-chapter warnings, but maybe for more major stuff... but like, with the stuff I was just kinda-writing today (for my "zero draft" that isn't exactly an outline), I was almost triggering MYSELF, even, so that probably warrants a warning... ha!
I've found that to be true for me too! Maybe we're just freaks though? LOL.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Date: 2016-11-03 03:36 am (UTC)The Fruit of Your Intents had 12 chapters but only four had on screen non-con, so I put a note at the start of each of those chapters.

Date: 2016-11-03 03:55 am (UTC)FOYI didn't bother me at all. Oh, right, that's just me ;) (also might help that I, not knowing the canon, didn't feel any connection to the characters prior to reading though?)

Date: 2016-11-03 03:50 am (UTC)When I'm reading, I think it's better to have the suspense of not knowing when something bad's going to happen, but I imagine that's not the case for a more sensitive person. That makes sense about it getting easier as it goes along... seems to be human nature in many regards!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts :D
